still looking at this ... i have tested Jack's with Keepers obj.dat mod as per the install instructions ...and another one as well as the original obj.dat   ..trying combo's too  ... :book:
side note the only blue flags i have ever seen are at the end of the race when everybody is waveing.

the dirt color thing is odd too ..Ginetto and I some how in the process was able to change it for Nurburgring ...but neither of us could figure out why it changed ??? :idunno:
yeah! NASCAR :harumph:
anybody who might have an idea please share it ... :please:

Couldn't it be so simple you mixed up the colours/flags?

I mean blue flag seems to be white (blue and white flag are never waved AFAIK).
Waved yellow flags are waved white flags.

Hi guys and Merry Christmas ! :partytime:
Gammaworx, i had a look at your files and they can't work correctly.

Making new flagmen is not that simple.
The sample.pbf, "hold" and "wave" srbs must be in 16 colors/4bits. And the sample.pbf contains the color palette in a specific order for all these files.
Then each files must be edited with an hexadecimal editor to change and remove some values.

I made new flagmen some times ago but never finished them. I will try to release them one day.

Jack ...Thank You very much for all your contributions over the years :bravo:
and ...  MERRY CHRISTMAS  to You ... :fireworks:

"... "hold" and "wave" srbs must be in 16 colors/4bits" , "...palette in a specific order ...","....edited with an hexadecimal editor to change and remove some values"
i used your flagman with keepers as per the instructions as the base, because of the size aspect... i have had some success pushing srb's to 16 bits 1555 values , and 256 / 8bit values
can that be used in this case?

Not easy to explain in english.
About the flagman, you can create 16 bit textures EXCEPT the following :

- sample.pbf
- strsampl.pbf
- hold1.srb to hold4.srb
- wav1.srb to wav9.srb

GPL use these srbs to display the white, blue, green, yellow and black flags. They must be in 16 colors/4bit to be functionals. If not, GPL won't understand the color palette and will only display the white flags.

Now it's a bit tricky.
You need to create a 16 colors flagman and edit the palette in the right order. The index 0 must be the transparency color and the last four index must be the colors used for the flag in your texture. Save the edited palette (i use an old Paint Shop Pro version to work in 4bit).
Then you resize to 64x64 px and save as sample.pbf. An hex editing is needed after that.
Sample.pbf is the reference range for the colors. Basically, GPL calls this texture to know what to do with the flagmen and the color of their flags.

Load the rest of your textures (256x256 px), apply the edited color palette to them then save.

Convert them to srb.

Then you need to open each srbs with an hexadecimal editor to remove the color palette (to force them to use the sample.pbf), remove the end of the file, adjust the file size and modify some other values.
Now you have working flagmen !

Note : if you open one of these srbs with winmip, it will ask you for a palette : select sample.pbf.
Each time you modify one of these textures, you need to do hex editing again.

...english is as complicated as GPL...odd, quirky, overly complicated and not easy to master ...

i'm thinking this is turning out the same way...

but i'll keep at it and try to figure it out with the teachers assistance...Thank You Jack...

when i open one of the  ".srb's" ...it does ask for a palette reference ...so i go and switch to "pdf" and select "sample.pdf "  the ".srb" loads and shows as all white  ...and no colors in the palette ??? :idunno:

If it shows a white texture, first convert sample.pbf to sample.bmp.
Then open the srb and select sample.bmp for the palette instead of sample.pbf.
