When everything is ready, and it would be appropriate to create a pack to make the official mod 68 as tuttto others.
What do you think? :drive1:

Dave, in GEM+, click on the 'carsets' button, located top left. Then, select your 1968 carset from the window that comes up, and select 'edit carset files', located bottom right. In this window you can change all sorts of stuff, like the name for menu's, but also the AI physics (gpl_ai.ini, gplacXX for mods) and AI driver lineup (driver.ini, drvcXX for mods). It's the last one that you have to alter :) .

An attempt has been made before by a user named X5 494. You can find his files here: http://srmz.net/inde...321 . His carset called the driver lineup 'dric68.ini'.

I have configured a wingless Honda RA301 from 1968 by using Irridux and pioujd428's 68carsets
Murasama folder(s). It is about as accurate as we can get at the moment, The exhaust is still that
of the RA300, but the skin is pretty good. I have only edited the files & all credit goes to Marco & Chris.
Here are some screenies :)

Attached File  rouen68.JPG   135.79K   118 downloadsAttached File  rouen68a.JPG   106.16K   176 downloads

Attached File  rouen68b.JPG   117.67K   178 downloadsAttached File  rouen68c.JPG   94.99K   169 downloadsAttached File  rouen68d.JPG   93.66K   153 downloads
Attached File  rouen68e.JPG   89.93K   145 downloadsAttached File  rouen68f.JPG   101.31K   135 downloadsAttached File  rouen68g.JPG   100.16K   137 downloads

The #7 Surtees car works well at the 1968 French GP , as that was his number & he ran with it in
wingless config.
Attached File  gempic.jpg   77.86K   160 downloadsAttached File  surtees @ rouen68.JPG   81.64K   122 downloads

So if you want here it is. Just overwrite the files into your exisitng Murasama folder for any of the
1968 races you want to use it in. The RA301 debuted at the 1968 Spanish GP.
I'm not sure exactly of which races it was used wingless, but some research might tell us.

Attached File  murasama.zip   5.05MB   101 downloads

The carskin will work with the original 67 F1 cars if you want to try it in that fashion.
Just backup your exisiting Murasama folder :wave:

Edit 1/5/14 - wrong picture info about RA301 at German Grand Prix corrected.

1968 Spanish GP

Along with the Surtees RA301 Honda,a Bruce McLaren car I have put together from the aforementioned contributors :

Then I imported Keido's 68 Tasman Graham Hill Gold Leaf Lotus for the carset :

Attached File  hill1.JPG   96.8K   118 downloadsAttached File  hill2.JPG   110.67K   120 downloadsAttached File  hill3.JPG   93.87K   98 downloads

I have 12 of the 13 cars for the grid. I can't get Piers Courage to work, I might add Jack Brabham
who was there but couldn't start to substitute for Courage. :D

Well Dave I would love to help.

Using the original 69 physics (not extra) we can do the first 5 races up to Monaco.

However I'm not really editing GPL anymore. I haven't done any work for a good while now. Except for something fairly small which I'm not sure if I will post yet. It has something to do with a 67 F1 race.

How is your RA301 coming along TvO? If I could add it to Jarama and Monaco I will do a small amount of work getting the rest of the carsets up to an acceptable level in my opinion to post (they won't be perfect). I'm not worried about it though because like I said I don't have any interest in GPL editing other than the 68's. Or a 67 extra mod.

Sorry Gordon, I must make a correction. I was mistaken about Surtees running the #7 RA301 wingless at the
Nurburgring, the pic I posted is actually at another wet race at Rouen. We can see that Surtees has his wing
on at the start in the photo of the grid at Nurby :

Sorry to have mislead you about it.

However your memory about #7 at the German GP is correct , and here is the winged version if
you would like. :)

Wasn't very difficult for me to connect Surtees with #7. He used this very number in every German GP he participated in from 1963 till 1971.

Yes, I like the winged version very much! Many thanks for the correction.

And no problem Dave, I'm profoundly grateful that you do all this historical work. :yipee2:

Thanks Turboman . After some thought I decided to change my season to make the German GP historically correct :

[Event10]
name=German Grand Prix
shortname=German GP
trackDirectory=wetnurb
month=8
day=4
numberOfLaps=14
startingGrid=9
flag=gerflg
trackShortName=Nürburgring

then added the heavy fog into my track67 file :

[ fog ]
type = 1
density = 5.00
fog_r = 198
fog_g = 202
fog_b = 214

Some screenies of the outcome :

Attachment picture001.JPGAttachment picture002.JPGAttachment picture003.JPGAttachment picture004.JPGAttachment picture005.JPGAttachment picture006.JPGAttachment picture007.JPGAttachment picture008.JPGAttachment picture009.JPGAttachment picture010.JPGAttachment picture011.JPGAttachment picture012.JPG

Dave, I LOVE what you did with the 68 German GP! In that first screenie image of the GEM+ selection screen, in the grid picture, "that's me" just right of center at the top edge of the picture, crouching down at the railing to get some good photos of the start! What, you can't see me? LOL. I actually have a 2'x3' original poster of that second picture, the program artwork. As for your attempt to model the rain and fog: looks nice, but doesn't come CLOSE to depicting just how thick the fog was at points around the circuit, or water on the the track. Rindt talked of visibility down to only 100 yards, and Hill described streams running across the road! Still, very nice job and I'm looking forward to driving it myself, thanks to you!

Found these fog settings which I like better :

[ fog ]
type = 1
density = 5.0
fog_r = 150
fog_g = 175
fog_b = 200

Attachment 1.JPGAttachment 2.JPGAttachment 3.JPG

These settings I think you will like better, Wee Scot. For the full effect of the Wet Nurburgring, make
sure you get the wetnurb track from here :

http://srmz.net/inde...?showtopic=9325

Then get the falling rainpack from here :

http://srmz.net/inde...?showtopic=2681

and then install a nice track upgrade here post # 106, but don't replace the track ini file,only use the
loose files or you will loose the wetpavement and the track probably won't load. Alway backup your
succesfull upgraded track before trying more. :)

and pioujd428's (Gempic included here) Kyalami68 carset, but if someday we get them these could be used.
I am using them now for my personal 68 set, so maybe others might like them too. :D
