I saw we have a similar topic in the Sportscar Mod forum.Just curious what other GPLer's have
been driving the Can Am cars on tracks that are non championship for the Mod. :)

I have found Kyalami works well to race Ai at. Also enjoyed Jim Pearson's excellent Adelaide 1967
track. Thinking about trying Zeltweg71 also.

What have you guys found ? :hat-tip:

Haven't run much against AI recently, but running CanAm now most of time.
Isle of Man, Enna Pergusa, Brno 49 over the last few days.
Targa Florio, Spa67, Zandy, Rueon, Nurby, all fun.

CanAms are great driver cars, btw.
Thanks to all.

well i don't drive, let alone race, anymore, but kyalami was also one of the tracks i enjoyed - especially after jackseller's update. i've also enjoyed the targa - though that is not a recommended treat as it is quite a workout. the cars a too wide and way too powerful for that track - the porsche might work best there - it is a porsche after all. norisring and solitude are other tracks i enjoyed driving the canams at. so is surfers paradise (oh and that other spa ;))

The fictional "Hilltop" track is an amazing drive in the Can-Am cars.  It would have fit perfectly in with the other 'real' tracks of the '71 season.  Give 'her' a try!

I've been having a blast at the Nurburgring. Nurburgring may be my favorite track. I tend to race there a lot. Lemans is fun too. I even took them to Talladega to see how fast they would go. The AI for Talladega is terrible. I started making one for the Can Am cars there but it's not that important to me so I may never complete it. Other than those most of my driving has been on the circuits used during the 71 Can Am series and the 70,71,and 72 Interserie races.

How are your times at Nurburgring compared to the 67 F1 cars?

My best lap in a Ferrari 312 (over 90% of my driving is in a Ferrari) is 8:06. I can run under 8:15 consistently on a light fuel load. My very first lap in a Can Am car, the 917/10 was 7:59.6. It was a lousy lap but I was pleased to finally get under 8:00. I just can not seem the get the 312 under 8 minutes. With approximately 10 to 15 laps in the Ferrari 712 I'm down to almost 7:30. I should be able to get under 7:30 with another dozen or so laps of practice.

I haven't tried the M8F at the Nurburgring yet. I'm noticably faster in the M8F versus the Ferrari 712 at Riverside. I suspect I will be faster at the Nurburgring in the M8F than the 712.

JMF , which Nurburg track  do you like for the CanAm ? I found the Nurburgring 2002 is a good one for a post 1969 race with Armco.

I use the track that came with the sim. I used a file that updated all the original tracks from Papyrus. I think it was named gplinstalltracks_0.97.exe. That's the only thing I can remember doing to the Papyrus tracks.

I have found the Can Am Ferrari 712M with no wing runs well at the Targa Florio too.

Spa67 only so far. Masta is a thrill ! I'm tempted to add Nordscheleife and Monza to my Can AM track list. Let's see how it turns out.
