Apologies if this is not the right place for this question, but, as the topic title says, I'm after some advice regarding the purchase of a new Steering Wheel for use with GPL.
My new pc is a Win 7 64-bit and will not talk to my ancient (but until now very effective) Logitech Wingman Formula Force wheel. However, GPL appears to play without any modification being required.
I'm looking to spend about £100 (GB) and am wondering what people think about the Hama Thunder V5 (Hama in general) and Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 wheels and if they can recommend an alternative. The budget is slightly flexible (I saw a nice looking Logitech wheel on Amazon which was out of stock for £120), if needs be.

Hi Simon,

I would go for the Logitech DFGT. Have it for years and still runs like day one.
The only downside for some people is the pedals but they are OK for me. I drive on socks.
The Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 pedals are not better then the Logitech ones.

Second option would be an used Logitech G25 or G27, check Ebay.
The pedals of these wheels are much better and you have a clutch.

Regards, Marcel

Thanks for the advice, the DFGT was the wheel I was looking at on Amazon which was out of stock. After I made my original post I looked on ebay and saw loads for sale at around my budget.
Just a couple more questions; how do you get on with the 2.5 turns lock to lock when the F1 cars of GPL only go have one turn lock to lock? Am I right to assume it's a simple case of calibrating the wheel in-game accordingly?
Am I right to think that much of the wheel functionality is not available to the GPL player, or can you transfer more keyboard functions (replay etc) to the wheel?

You can adjust the wheel rotation in the system control panel/game controllers.

The Logitech Gaming Software allows you to assign keyboard functions to wheel buttons.

Thank you both for the advice. I'll be on ebay in a minute buying one!

Odd, I seem to have two identities, one as SimonC and another as SimonC4.
