I've seen trackside camera shots which are different from the standard locations. I know how to change the ca camera but not the tack camera. Can anyone help?

There are 2 programs to edit the track.cam file.
The cam file is either in the track.dat file or loose in the track directory.
The first editor has a good read-me which explains everything.

The second, newer by Nigel Pattinson, is an improvement so that it can work up to 1024 cameras instead of the 256 limit of the previous one.
This was needed after the long track breakthrough.
Is very simple and I prefer this one but you can use the one you like unless you pass 256 cameras ;)

Just download the ZIP, not the EXE :)
It happened with some other tool also; they were probably compiled with some tool that is now seen as some malicious piece of file.

Is the other Camedit from Nigel Pattinson around here in the forum?
If not I can post it here.

Hi Ginetto

Following the comment about 'malware' I downloaded ZIP but got a TrkCamEdit error statement reading:
"Component 'TABCTL32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered:a file is missing or invalid"

Any recommendations?

This is not easy because you must download the missing objects and register the OCX and DLLs. This/these files are Visual Basic runtime files which are needed by the program itself. They are however in the exe file but even ESET is blocking this file. So I would simply use the program from Nigel or adventure how to download the missing visual basic runtimes and register them in windows.

As Bernd said :)
I use Nigel's tool since he made the super cool camedit, with the help page from the older track cam edit; this help page is always useful to fully understand how to mange the settings, especially of the fixed and the pitbox cameras.
Hope it helps you to have a nice editing time

I think I agree about moving to the Camedit tool from Nigel although I did find the TrkCAMEdit readme extremely informative !

Having downloaded Camedit I was surprised to see an absence of help info especially as in the string which includes the download, Nigel says it's self-explanatory  -  not to me it isn't !! I extracted a .cam file from a tarck file to have a go at editing but see that Nigel comments that they aren't .cam files but are stored in the registry (something which I'm afraid I don't understand - sorry for being a thicko here guys)

Please can you give me an idiot's guide as to what to do here - and does each new camera need a precise latitude and longitude - what seemed so attractive with TrkCAMEdit was that it was that each new camera was either up or down the track from TV1 or TV2 - or am I again missing the point

Geoff
