Graham Hill used to joke when he was under the pressure first of Stewart at BRM, then Clark at Lotus : " those scots aren't too manys, but they are a bloody nuisance"

But with this name, Marco, Italian  roots must be not far away :duh:

Yes Needforspeed ,Last year I saw him on Windtunnel with Dave Despain & Robin Miller on Speed Channel here in the States.
The interview also included Jackie Stewart via telephone from Scotland.

A majority of the chat was about the Grand Prix drivers(1960's) that we are very familar with
and Dario spoke very highly about them. Likewise Sir Jackie had high regards for Dario's
ability as well.  :hat-tip:

Here he is driving the 1965 Honda F1 car

Personally, I liked Taku taking the risk in the final lap and going for it. Didn't work out, but if it did, Japan would've gone apeshit.

Regards, R

PS. Here's the real thing in action, btw - Jim Clark's actual Indy car.

I follow Indycar for a long time. And I'm not Dario fan. Yes, he is fast. But I can not say he is so talented. Yes he won championships, Indy 500 three times. But all his Indy wins don't come close for example to Dan Wheldon's wins. But the biggest thing I don't like is his 'dirty' driving, especially last couple of years. I'm tired to listen his 'I gave him enough room' and 'He didn't give me enough room'. His 'two-car wide room' that he left for Sato (Dario said this in one of postrace interviews) forced Sato to spin. He 'left Newgarden enough room' at Long Beach and send him into the wall.

Like many others I was disappointing to see such finish at Indy 500.

I like Powers driving style more, but Franchitti is a real winner who really knows how to push the envelope when it matters. Newgarden was really fast at Long Beach, and made the rookie mistake of trying to fit in a gap that wasn't there, at a point in the race when there wasn't any need to do it. Franchitti's move wasn't nice, but Newgarden shouldn't have put himself in that position and you know what they say, nice guys finish last. Same thing with Sato's move, it was a bit of a do-or-die attempt, you can't blame Franchitti for Sato making the move on him when there was no room. Had he been the nice guy (or the scared guy) he would have moved over and he would've finished second, but he knew Sato was too late and forced him way down low, at which point Sato backed off too late and spun. Good racing skills, Franchitti knows exactly what he can and can't do. And he's got 3 trophies to show for it now.

Yeah I've seen that clip already. Certainly Franchitti ran wide there, and it it visible on the race broadcast that they touched which sent Newgarden into the wall. It's a dirty trick, but within the rules, Newgarden took the risk of trying to overtake round the outside, and also he started the move too late. The risk was all on Newgarden in my opinion, and this time he judged the gap wrong and it didn't work out. He should have waited and make a clean pass the next lap. Rookie mistake. You can like or hate Franchitti for it but what he did there and to Sato was within the rules, in my opinion and the stewards :) .

Tommie.

I thought this was the best Indy race to watch in quite some time. I'm also glad they finally started the race properly again. It used to piss me off when they started in the entry to turn 3. Restarts were awesome too.
