A force feedback wheel surely will help you to find into driving better than the non-ffb. If you're new to simracing and want to find out if you like it as a hobby, the Wingman will do the job.
If you're already sure about that, think of investing some bucks more and look for a Driving Force Pro/GT or a Microsoft Sidewinder FFB.

I had a wingman for my PS2, and it was a good wheel. They make a slightly newer one that is called the Logitech Momo Force. They are similar, but the FFB on the Momo Force is greater, and the wheel is thicker and feels better. It also has a sequential gear lever which is pretty fun. I now use a G25, which is very expensive, but the clutch and h-pattern work with GPL and add to the immersion.
But, to answer your original question, go with the FFB. It will help you feel what the car is doing, which, in GPL, any extra feedback about what these cars are doing is beneficial.
Enjoy GPL (I'm just getting back into it).

Used a black MOMO for years and its great for price.
Now use a Driving Force GT.
Find it to be much better and capable of performance driving in ways afaik not possible with MOMO.
Can't imagine GPL without FFB wheel, btw, but others don't use it.

Imho save your money for a Logitech G27. I been using a Driving Force GT for 3 years--I bought it for the price and the fact it has 3 pedals.
Since purchase the "flipper" paddles failed almost imeediately. The sequential shifter broke twice (3 month wait for replacement from Guillimnont each time.
The rubber band used to transmit FFB force regularly slips off. The solder joints for the wheel and FFB motor break due to poor postioning. Now I'm
getting FFB "spikes" after the wheel warms up. The DFGT is really a plastic toy!

I don't know which Driving Force Pro/GT you are talking about, but most surely not the Logitech one. Is there another one with the same name? oO

I'm confused as to which wheel tdurrett is talking about also. Guillemot is the parent company for Thrustmaster while the DFGT is from Logitech.
