i doubt you will find anything on the WSC'71 mod on youtube. unless.. hm, there is one short flick of one of the porsches approaching mulsanne corner experiencing some airtime cresting the bump. but that is, come to think of it, not a car of the '71 set (906?). and again, unless i am mistaken only a handful (i know of 3, me included obv.) of people have had access to the WSC'71s so far
. the porsches (917 at least) are mine and i will not part with them until satisfied as they are my pets (as you can probably guess by my avatar...). to me the 917 is the ultimate race car. very small, yet it appears very large until you see it next to a "regular" car, like porsche 911 or a 914 for instance (see attachment) and fearsome in its performance and sheer genious when you think of some of the engineering ideas that were realized with it.
in any case all the videos dave has linked above are by now close to 3 years old. they were part of a several pages long interview with bob (royale) by simhq - as you can see by the uploader ID below each of the videos - about the state of GPL modding back then and an outlook on the future of GPL as envisioned back then. things have progressed and - i should think - improved a wee bit since then. of course the sportscars mod - the original - has taken quite a chunk of time out of the time alotted to the other mods in development, but since it, the F2 and the 69X are out of the way now, the focus lies with the CanAm'71. what comes after that has not been finally decided, but at this time things seem to point at the '55 F1. and what is to follow after that is obviously even more hazy. including those mentioned above, i think at this time we have at least 1 outstanding mod per team member. my last count of things i remember off the top of my head came to 13 just now but i might be wrong and missing one or two. anyway most of them have already been mentioned around here. and as usual they will be delivered, time permitting, when they are done and done to a level of quality we are happy with. most of us do have some sort of live outside GPL, you know
. although depending on your point of view, anything before or after might just be waiting - so maybe not so much of a life, right steve?
so it might be a while.
