Pictures make it look like there's lots of room. At speed that opening on Monacane looks small coming up to it.

Interesting Pete;

But even with the exact distance and dimentions of any track in GPL,  the way the objects and the scenery come to the drivers is different  than in real life. Smaller objects in the center area of the screen  increase their size suddenly .Seems we have no time to react when the  two chicanes apexes come quickly compared with what we wld see in real  life  A kind of telephoto effect, isn' it ?

Found a new photo showing the Chicane. It said 1966 but the race car almost looks older
or different formula ?

Attachment monaco7267-Version2.jpg

That's a brilliantly timed shot..seeing the train in the left upper corner and the formula car below.

Interesting detail..the nurses? sitting on the bench completely unaware of the driver squeezing as much time out of his lap as possible :)

Thx for sharing, it's a great picture

I Google searched images "Monaco Chicane 1966" and that is the 1st image they display. It's
from a Gallery website.Photo is available in many sizes.Says it was taken in 1966.  :hat-tip:
Edit-Any guesses,I was thinking pre 1963 ? looking at the car.

Looking closely, the car number seems to be #34.  The site http://www.silhouet....e/f1/title.html shows the car numbers at each race.

In 1959, there was a #34 Ivor Bueb Cooper-Climax T51 but that (similar) car has a small radiator opening.  Or maybe Cooper made it a bigger opening for Monaco.

another pic showing the cloudy ambient effects of the dust resulting from the cement sprayed all over the shoreline after the Brabham engine lost all the oil .Just after the chicane

Later, that 's motivated John Surtees to beat Jack by a tiny margin at the Italian GP !   Repco engine !

Cool picture. My guess would be its a T55 or T53 Cooper.

How can I download an image form this forums?

Just click on the image and it will open in a sub screen.
At the right bottom is a save button, when you press it it will open a new tab where you can right click the image to download :)

Just dropping in this thread to ask if anyone has noticed it seems the track flattens several yards before entry to the chicane? Noticed this on a recently posted clip of Hill touring Monaco...on the "driving view" thread. Does Grand Prix Legends model this accurately? Or how accurately?
In the pic davef posted above, maybe this happens where the curbing stops (driver's right coming down to entry) and the armco starts...right at the little round sign.

Bear in mind that the streets of Monaco have been heavily modified over the years. In recent years the section between the tunnel and the chicane has also had a lot of work.
