Just when I was feeling a little burnout from running continous F1 & F2 Mods since X-Mas,I spent
this afternoon jumping in the Porsche 910 and running some laps around the Madonie road circuit
in Sicily.45 min laps,but its a start.

The GPL Targa Florio is an unbelievable masterpiece!Driving around it one becomes awstruck at the
achievement of the track builders. It really is its own world! :hat-tip:

Edit-check out the awesome video JMF posted here of the 1965 race :hat-tip:

Yes it is a very nice track indeed .
And racing it with the Porsche 910 is super , when GTMod came out i had to do the Targa FLorio for my Porsche Ranking , took me one week to learn the track well (used the Targa trainer)have fun and good luck .

It is indeed an impressive piece of work! I've only completed two laps. The first in a Ferrari in about 44 minutes and a second one in a Porsche at 42 minutes. Until I learn the track the Ferrari is too powerful for me. It will take me months if not years to learn this track well.

This track got me so curious that I used google maps street view to look at what the entire area looks like now. This track also made me want to make my own tracks. I've started one that is based on real roads in my area. It will be a track somewhat like Spa and the GTK I've created is 16.2 miles. I don't know if I'll be able to learn how to make good tracks but the Targa Florio has inspired me to try. And if I can learn this I want to try to complete the Pescara alpha and then do the 60+ mile Mugello road circuit.

I can't understand why an american with no Italian ancestry that I know of is so interested in Ferraris and Italian race tracks but I really like them.

One of these days I need to drive a two hour lap at the Targa Florio to check out all the scenery which I'm sure will impress me even more with fine quality of the work. If only you could smell the flowers!

Yes the Targa Florio trainer is the way to go if you want to learn it well .
Second , third and fourht are the most important gears , the fifth gear you need only for the long straight .
Like i said it took me one week or 7 day's and two hours each day to learn it well .
Did you also saw the movie that the guy's have created when they lanced Targa Florio ? , if not worth to see it .
greets

Thanks for the tip. I just scrolled through the whole track using Google Earth and street view. That made me appreciate the GPL track even more. Incredible work!  :artist:

Best track ever made for any simulator. I made today my new lap time with  Ferrari 330/P4 time: 39.29.??. This was maybe 5th time when I drove whole track around. There was couple mistakes. There is much to improve to lap record which Leo Kinnunen made back in the day (33.??.?? or something). Hope one day I master the track and get close to lap record.  I haven't tried that trainer because I think it's cheating :P . Beautiful track and in the real life it would be insane to drive it with fast cars like Porsche 917.

I'd be very surprised if anyone could come up with a better rendition of a better circuit. I would spend a lot more time driving it and improving my lap time if it wasn't so challenging.

That's how Helmut Marko (alltime recordholder IRLife) described it! :D

I too, would like to praise this masterpiece. I can't get it working for the 65 mod (my favoured mod). I've been running a few races there in Formula 2. Amazing track.
