This is my historical (almost) correct carset addon for SPA 1967(*). There are the AI car skins with the numbers of SPA, plus some other stuff to match the colours and the reality and the drvc67 to drop in the spa track folder. All the credits go to who has created the original skins and textures:  GPLEA, Nino Garage, Jack Seller, Van Gossum and whoever has made the HR cooper’s engines.

On those bases, I have inserted the car race numbers how and the way they were. In addition I made darker the original GPLEA green of the Cooper and I played a bit around with the Cooper engines to fit reality. I am rather happy with the results. For the larger than 512x512 textures, I have included the option of smaller mips.  No need to say that my GS_AI_face_helmet_collection posted some time ago completes this addon.

(*)  exceptions are: Parker’s ferrari (36v instead of his 312), Hulme’s  and Anderson’s  brabham (BT24 and BT20 instead of BT19 and BT11), and Irwin’s BRM (P83 instead of P261).

This looks great, if only there was a way to make the AI seamlessly change in 67's. Is'nt there also a Monaco and Mosport carset, does anyone know where to find them?

Indeed, there are already carsets for Monaco, Monza and Mosport around (though I don't know if the latter two were ever released - ask MECH ;) ). The Monaco carset was extremely accurate, including various edited car 3dos. It is really a must-have for historical accuracy fetishists. If it turns out to be unavailable, I can upload it for you.

I am not sure that "historical accuracy fetishists" sounds as a compliment  :confused: , but nevertheless if you can upload the Monaco carset I would be pleased since it was one of the next in my list. :wave:

Well, let's go back to calling them the realism police if you prefer this notion. ;) I'm fine with considering myself part of either group.

I don't know if the Monaco carset was ever hosted on that website, TBH. I can't even remember it. I think the main release channel was directly via RSC, but it may have been mirrored somewhere else. Anyway, here is the latest version I could come up with. All credits go to the original creators.

Actually, my download seems to have been corrupted so that many files seem to be missing from the V1 release archive (WinRAR reports "unexpected end of archive"). I hope that someone else can step in and provide the proper file. In the meantime, I can post what I have, i.e. a working prerelease version V0.8, several fixes, the uncomplete V1 and the V1.1 updates. Sorry for this mess! The download chronology (= order of installation) is as follows: V0.8, V0.9, ReadMeV1, driver suits, BT19 engine, BRM fix, V1, V1.1.

I have not tested it extensively,but I have a patched 67F1 install and just put my original driver.ini in a track folder, renamed it to drvc67.ini and deleted some of the drivers. Even when I run the game with 19 AI-drivers, GPL does not use the original ini, but the one that is in my trackfolder.

I actually started to fiddle around with some individual driver.inis, so G.Spinnings´s skins are very much apreachiated,  :thumbup: .

Would be a great improvement to a 1-fits-all-ini.

I think TvO intented the 67-Monaco-carset to be for the 66mod, as it better fit many of the 67 cars that drove in Monaco (Lotus 33, BRM 261, Matra MS5/7 lookalikes etc.).
If I remember right, it was the base for the idea to buidt a 67-Mod, which seems to be obsolete now.  :idunno:

Hi FloP, Becky and all.

Thanks for the uploading of the real Monaco 67 files. From a very first look, I think Becky is right: TvO intended to make a Monaco 67 MOD which was requiring to have other MOD installed (65MOD?). I don't and will not have the 65 and 66 MODs, but I am very curious to look at all those files.

In order to re-create as much as possible realistic grids for each 67 F1 race on the basis of the actual 67 patch, what I intend to do, as long as I enjoy it, is simply to have specific drvc67 for each track and create the right AI.3do and AI car skins track by track to be added in each car folder. I am aware that there will be tracks where anyhow I will have to change some cars in the carset 67, for instance at Monza the ferrari 48v shall replace the 36v and the honda RA300 the RA273. As well as due to the fact that the actual 67 patch has only 7 car slots with single graphic each, I can have only one type of BRM or ferrari at a time and only the BT24 and BT20 together and this will limit my historical accuracy to about 80% of the grid. But nevertheless, even if in the worst case I could end up with a 67 carset for each race (I think probably 2 or 3 complete carsets will make the job), my PC hard disk can take all of them. :wave:

  A little remark :.we can replace Mike Parkes Ferrari 312 67 with the 66 front bulkhead he raced with, and it will be completely accurate.
  Great Cooper work team darker skins, a realism police feature that was missing for a long time

  The great thing is when the stunning Spa 67 will be completed, the combination of the two will be one of the best GPL promoter.I am always leaving in a dream !

Hi Michel, how can you do that? I tried to looked at the GPLEA 67 31236v and GPLEA 67 312 Parkers,  hoping to mix them, but the two  ferrari.3do are incompatible on the cockpit and mirrors.

sorry Gianfranco,  you are right.

I forgot to remember than GPLEA released first the 48 valves, and they decided as a gift to offer the Parkes car variant based on that car. But Parkes chassis was a 1966 36 valves chassis modified to 1967 specifications.

That was a mismatch historical error, because Pärkes car entered races (Silverstone Daily express, Zandvoort and Spa )  along with team mates in the 36 Valves, well before the 48 valves first entry ( German GP ).But Gustavo Olivera  did it knowing the problem. As you can see, Parkes car as the same rounded cockpit and traditional mirrors, like the 48 valves chassis. I think it was easier to get it run without CTD with the 48 v.

Anyway, as you said, having 80 % accurates cars for the 67 season is roughly the best result you can get with 7 cars slot only.
Because at Spa, if someone wld like to include Bob Anderson BT 11 Climax and Chris Irwin P 261, two extra slots wld be necessary. The frustrating thing is those cars 3Do are done !

Is the maximum number of cars GPL can handle 20? I had little look into it, and managed to get it down to 28, leaving out cars that never qualified (T82), and F2 cars. Some cars are there twice such as the Lotus 33 and Ferrari 312, but with different engines. The cooper T81 and T81b could probably share a slot despite having slightly different engines.

Thank for this carset.
But a little question ( i'm not a specialist... ) , GPL crash with 19 cars, i must choise 18 cars and it's ok with this choice !

have you a solution to ride with all drivers ?
