I think that the idea of a Interleagues Championship is great! As one of the administrators of GPL Brasil, I'm here to help with the organization, if needed.

In 2008 we had a system like the FIFA Football World Cup, 32 teams divided into 8 grups of 4 teams, with the 2 bests of each group moving to the next round.

I don't know if we have 32 active leagues nowadays, but in 2008 there were some countries with more than one team. I was doing some research about the active GPL leagues. This is what I've found:

- GPL Brasil
- UKGPL
- EOLC
- GPL Racer
- Mybroga
- Grand Prix Argentina
- oAo
- VOR (Virtual Online Racers)
- F1 Legends
- Ligue Francaise de GPL (LFGPL)
- LBGPL
- Grand Prix Legends Weekly
- Hungarian GPL Masters
- Trellet
- GPFUN
- Atlas F1
- LoPeN
- PDLR
- AusGPL
- Average Drivers Club (ADC)
- OSRLO (I think it's a Russian league)
- HSO (Historic Simracing Organization)

22 leagues listed above, and I probably forgot to put some which I don't know if it's still active or not. If anybody know another ones not listed here, just remember us :)

EDIT 1: Added LFGPL and HSO to the list

Hungarian GPL Masters had just ran out of drivers and suspended its work for a few months at least. Though if we know the details we might make a team.

Hi there ! Some of you might remember me from the 2008 World Cup which I created and ran with Runar Bjornstad, with the help of Reg Burke, Toni Mau and James Dayjur. I'm still an admin four years later, now at Historic Simracing Organisation. Although I can't commit into a WC like I did four years ago, I'd be happy to help make it happen in 2012 :) . HSO can provide a race server if needed (and if there is no clash of dates with an HSO race), and I can round up the interested French GPLers too.

My 2€ cents on a 2012 World Cup. The GPL scene now being what it is, it is only logical to do something smaller in size and length. Good timing could maybe be to build it up for the first semester and have all the racing from September to December ?
Also I really think it should be a Nations competition to keep it in the spirit of the previous World Cups, and not a big interleague contest.
The last WC format worked well it could just be divided in half with only 16 teams which seems reasonable, with either one or two teams per country.

Biggest problem seems to be the 36/60fps issue... I'm for 36 as I'm sure most French will be - all the remaining French-speaking GPL leagues are on 36fps.

Anyway, great to see some interest for a GPL World Cup

Not exactly a league, but the GPLIP page, the software the Japanese use instead of VROC ;) . Best shot at having Japanese racers would be to contact CryingFreeman (bachou176-at-yahoo.co.jp). He was a regular in the 2007 WC 40th Anniversary and did his best to gather a Japanese team but it didn't happen. The GPL scene was dying in Japan in 2008 and I guess it didn't get better in four years... Still maybe a couple of Japanese guys could be part of a regional team, like the ones we had in 2008 (Celtic Nations, Eastern Europe).

I found something about a Japanese league, but the most recents results are from 2006. I don't know if there was another Japanese league that ran (or is still running) GPL for more time.

mmmm looks like we're getting a little late for a 2012 wc. In 2013 GPL will be 15 and maybe that sounds better...

I guess the point is not if there will be a 2012 GPL WC or not, and is not late yet...

The right question is who are willing to organize and work for host the 2012 GPLWC

Last year the World Cup was not held

several problems:
36fps vs 60fps
jetlag
too many teams and races manage

I propose another organization:
1 European Cup and 1 Americas Cup

The winners meeting for the title of world champions
