I started a "Your own cars" thread in the 69 mod forum a while back so I thought I'd start one here too. First up are two Lolas I've made.  The yellow one came first and is lower res so doesn't look quite as clear.  The pruple car is 1024x1024 so the details are better.

Point of trivia: The very observant amongst you may spot both cars are linked to a city...

If you've painted any of your own cars it would be great to see them. I'm not sure when the 'addon ban' for the GT mod is lifted but when it is perhaps we could have an addon car section here?

The city is Oxford?

I like the yellow one. :) Sportscars in yellow always seem to look good somehow.

Good spot!  The yellow car is loosely in the colours of Oxford United, the purple car has the crest of the city of Oxford on the side. I wasn't expecting anyone to get that....

Maybe this is the right place to ask: which mip file has to be edited to paint my own ferrari?

Doesn't look right somehow, but perhaps you are only 'doing a Mercedes in 1924' when they painted their car red at the Targa so that the Sicilians would not throw rocks at it ?

No physics changed, just some digital paint :)

Basically i tried to learn where bendings start, stuff like that. The Porsche seemed to be the easiest one to have a first look at.

Just questioning: How do you do that??

Step 1: Collect  gplviewer and WINMIP2  at  GPL + + addon

Step 2: Identify the file you want to change
- The bodies are appointed by the first 3 letters of the brand:
bra, brm, eag, fer, cov (coventry for Cooper) and mur (murasama for honda)
- By the No. of the car
they are. mip
eg fer1.mip, fer2.mip, ........, fer20.mip
(Consider making a backup of the file you will modify!)

Step 3: convert the.mip in  .Bmp
the ferrari used by the player is off the No. 4 ( in mod 67 ), if I want to customize it so I will:
open winmip2  and pick the file that is in fer4.mip sierra/GPL/cars/cars67/ferrari

Posted Image
Clicking on the tab next to mip and choose bmp
it saves the file (or you will, with the name you want) without omitting to write the ending. bmp
eg fer4.bmp in office

Step 4: we open fer4.bmp with graphics software, eg paint

Two options:
a - write directly on the body
Posted Image
b- or created a sticker
Posted Image..ED.bmp
b the solution is simpler and the sticker has the advantage that it can be reused for other chassis
*** is a small sticker. bmp file created with paint eg ***

Once your self adhesive created and saved, you open with paint fer4.bmp
it suffices to choose: publishing and "paste from" File of self adhesive (here: ED.bmp)

(possibly by changing its size with "stretch / skew" and the rocking with "return / rotate")
Posted Image
once that is done is recorded.

Step 5:
you open the fer4.bmp with winmip and you convert fer4.mip
step 6
you put this in your fer4.mip carset ferrari
Step 7:
you test the result in GPL
and you ask your self adhesive or you want

and you can change all the cars

Hi ed76

Can't find live links on GLP++ Addon.  Under 'Utilities' Winmip2 comes up with 'Error' and can't find gplviewer.

Any suggestions?

Geoff
