Hi all,
Looking to maybe set up a league for average racers...I ran one many years ago which attracted a loyal following so can hopefully do the same again.
Please reply to this post if you would like to run in a relaxed but well run league. Nothing decided yet in terms of what era, tracks, rules, times, etc so open to any suggestions.
Thanks,
Ian

I would be interested in joining too. Although it depends a bit on the time slot.
Nice initiative!

Well that's a good start :-)
Would probably need to run races late one evening during the week....large family and a carp fishing hobby to fit it as well :-)

Well that's seven of us already potentially :-)
My view would be that we run the original 1967 F1 cars and the '67 schedule as Season One.
We could then run other cars and tracks in following seasons??
Races would possibly be around 9pm GMT on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night, with a race every fortnight?
We could then run a 1 hour practise session one week with the actual race the next week.
I'm also a big fan of awarding points for at least the top 10 finishers...that way there is a good incentive to carry on racing if you're not a front runner
What do you think?

The days and times are ok for me .
The point system is also good for me .
What about shift+r , I tink it would be better that we can do shift+r because with the 67 F1 cars it is damn hard to race and crasses will certainly happen
so the shift+r would be no luxury .
Than the level of realisme , are we going in car type for the " advenced trainer " or for the " grand prix " , and for the car damage model " advenced " or " realistic "
Than there is also the distance for a race , i would go for pro-long this is not to short and not tooooooo long i tink , but hell ..... these are only some idea who are exploding in my mind .
greets
And some tracks i would like to race on
Bikernieki 1968
Wiesbaden
Moulinsart
Casa de Campo
MACHWERK
Chimay 2002
Dundrod 1965
Jops Siffert Circuit
Liege
Isle of Man
Pacific Raceway
Porto 1958
Glen71

If it was a Thursday I might be able to join you. At 9pm on Tuesdays we run our UKGPL races and Wednesdays BREASTS run so can't do those nights.

I'm interested as long as it doesn't clash with present league commitments

Well, I'm interested in about a month when I get me dads intraweb setup. I'm about to move back in with him to care as he got diagnosed with a serious illness at 65. He's absolutely mental about GPL (I bought it for his birthday back in '98) and has bombarded me with stories about J.Clark etc... but I only just convinced him to get a net connection setup. So, If someone is still planning to setup a new league soon there's 2 of us here who'd be interested.
Regards,
Sam.

This story seems to have died out?
Anyway,
i actually ran for several years in a ReVolution Racing Series, which was founded by founder of this interesting thread, Ian Cowley. I believe that we overlapped in RRS only for a few races. But RRS was great in its time. Seeing this on a day when i took out my dusty wheel again after a long time and gave gpl a spin, well. feels a bit dejavu.
thx for RRS1, Ian. I'll be lurking around, to see if anything becomes of this.
