so yea, now that it's xmess  again, here's a lil' prezzie for all y'all. a bunch of higher resolution (or 32bit) skins for the ford gt40 mk2b. for now this post only comes with 512x512 skins in 32bit for all the skins (online and offline) as the original mod only came with 16bit skins AND with a 1024x1024 package including, again, all skins but this time in 16 & 32bits. Notice the disclaimer below - you know the drill. i will add a package containing 2048x2048 skins of the "real" offline AI as well as the 4 different #27 player skins included with the original mod at a later time - as a matter of fact, i could upload the real AI's right now, but need to find the 2048x player skins to make it one package... i've accumulated a bit of a giant black hole of files for the gt's
 :duh:

and as usual the disclaimer, 32bit means you HAVE TO use the V2 rasterizers. OGL V2 or D3D V2, doesn't matter as long as it is V2. just have to stress that so there's no bitching when GPL crashes, because someone thought V1 and 32bit do mix - they don't. i've tried. ;)

the 1024x package is rather large, but then the type5 (16bit) skins include loads of dithering and that is quite the worst case scenario for compression - the 32bit (despite actual 2x bigger filesize) compresses better than the 16bit - go figure :P

readme included though, if you have questions - ask.
:Santa1: :Santa2:

/ok bummer about the 30meg limit, after about 1.5hours of uploading i ran afoul of the 30meg limit, so i split the file into 2. first part in this post, 2nd part in the next. bleh
//bummer #2. "you aren't permitted to upload this kind of file" that was a 7z.001, so back to the drawing board, i zipped the two subdirs seperately - worth noting the individual .7zips are smaller than the one big one containg the same files :S
anyway, i did a short f2 race at kyalami including qualifying during the upload of the 2nd part.. meh, those are mighty fun and so darn easy to drive, rejoice

actual note, first part contains 16bit, 2nd part contains 32bit.

Thanks Sky, very nice. But a question, in 24 h Daytona , I see a MkII grey with yellow stripe ( no number!), how replace this car with a real daytona's car. Thanks.

chevrolet,

are you sure that that gray car with yellow stripes is a mk2b? i'm thinking it sounds more like a mk1 - like the one attached here as a pic? that's an mk1 for sure (i extracted it from the mk1.dat just now). otherwise i'd be stumped, because there is no such mk2b - at least none that i painted :P

as for replacing it. i'm assuming it is an mk1 car and the filename is the one of the .jpg attached. so you would need to unpack the .dat for the car (datman is a useful tool for that, floating around here in the tools section, i'm sure), grab the skin you want to have as the player car and rename it to match the name of the one above (pic). then copy that .mip into your mk1 folder and presto.
why that car is chosen as the player's car beats me though. but then i think i have yet to drive a single lap in the mk1
