I have a G25 and noticed that the Chaparral was the only car that I had trouble finding fourth gear with.  I only could find it with every fifth or sixth attempt.  Now I know why.  'Cos its not supposed to be there!

Yes, this is with ALShift. Interesting that it can't be done with GPLShift!
I always thought they were essentially the same, with ALShift having a nice UI and GPLShift sporting some cool extra features.

Just a hint on setting the gear ratios for Chaparral; don’t spread the 3 gears out, but think of the torque convertor as first gear and then set the others as if they were 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  :)

That's another dilemma :) . Do I set it up for more speed in a lap, or do I shorten first gear so I'm not losing all kinds of places when the green flag drops?

I read in Pete Lyons' Can-Am book that the Chaparrals were left-foot braking only, (a shield prevented RFB), there was no clutch pedal, and the 3rd pedal was used to adjust the wing and flap. Is this all correct?

That's not realistic!

It's also going to be a problem when I finish my new cockpit where the steering shaft prevents left foot braking

The 2F had a pedal to operate the wing where a normal car would have a clutch pedal.  The wing was normally at the maximum down force angle and pressing the pedal would move it to the minimum drag angle.  The driver would press the pedal coming out of the corner so the car had minimum drag down the straight.  When he reached his braking point he would take his foot off the wing pedal and push the brake pedal.  The wing would then be at its maximum down force and drag angle when braking and cornering.

You can watch the wing in action in the CanAm series here:

Jim Hall in his Chaparral is featured all the way through this video, but you can see him flipping the wing at several instances, like at 2:30 for example.

Richard and Tommie are exactly correct and we spend years researching this stuff for the mod.   :iconcur:
