Sorry 'bout that - I'll get it in there (and the TotalRank) shortly.

I've just about finished the progset for this one. It came out a little sooner than I expected, and the illegal aliens I've got locked in the basement painting this :crap: have been taking their sweet-a$$ed time about it, I'll tell you what.

"Hey Miguel, no more Cuervo until I see some pixels on my screen, pronto!"

Anyway, it's nearly done - I'll release it and update the GPLtd when it is.

Hi Svenvangent    You will find that Monty is a Beta and only final tracks are included in total rank. A while back some of the final tracks were removed after a debate in this forum, for example Blackwerk was removed as it is the same as Machwerk but without colour, a couple of others were voted back in I think, but you will find that some tracks that are worthy IMO to be there are not final so they don't make the cut.  :)

Hallo burnsy865
Hard to read those words .
Thinking that Mister Monty python is still a beta , strange.. I saw nothing wrong with this track that could tell that this is a beta .
For me this is a track that they may call FINAL .

Yes, there are a few "beta" tracks that seem more "final" than some of the "final" tracks.

P.S. Sorry if I made the last post hard to understand, I forget that not everybody here uses English as a first language

Tracks are called 'final', 'beta' or 'alpha' because that's how the track authors categorized them when the tracks were released. 'Beta' meaning "seems to work well enough for you guys to play with, but I'm not quite satisfied with it yet."

Of course at this late date, it's a safe bet that all the tracks (with a handful of possible exceptions: Mugello, Pi67, etc.) are as 'final' as they're ever getting; their authors have moved on to other sims. Or stopped editing altogether. Or died.

Not that this discursion has anything to do with mister Simbear's lovely new mountain track...

Hey hey, Mr Simbear!

Thank you very much for your latest masterpiece. Had some hotlaps with the 65er and 69er BRM that produced a big grin on my face. :D

The accentuated crowning is a real challenge to master, especially with the wide 69er cars. Anyone has some setup tips for me how to keep the car better in line? At the moment it feels very twitchy when diagonally crossing the center line. I tried to reduce overall rollbar stiffness but that did not really make me happier.

Thomas

I did setups to all 65, 66, 67 and 69 chassis. This is the default setups to the track, but they suite my own driving style and hardware and not all users.  You can start to drive default and use your favorite diff, steering ratio and more. I always increase the ride high, but I’m not alien driver and prefer stability.  Anyway better setups would be fine, and when the Alternative Track Database is updated, it’s possible to upload :) .

I have to confess I never ever came up with the idea that a track comes with useable and mod compatible standard setups. Just too good to belive. Thank you once more.

Thomas

PS: Danger is low I could ever produce a setup that is worth an upload/download. ;)

The track has been added to the GPLtd, and eventually (when the background propagation happens) to the TotalRank. Get practicing, you TotalRankers!

There's also a recently-released bit of original artwork for it. You know where to go.

Thanks again for the progsets John!    Thanks for the comments, nice to hear. I’m glad this experimental road choice is more than drivable proven by you bravery drivers  :hat-tip: .

As a trackmaker crashing is rarely when testing. I did some hotlaps or races to put my times to the rank (and make replays, read later), and when pushing harder to the limits I ruined many laps. Especially the 69’s was harder to control than I become aware of, because they was a bit camber sensible.

My tracks have the real cambers from the real world and I can’t ignore this :). The public roads have shorter camber-shifts as this is dimensioned for speeds like 50-60 or maybe 80 km/h (here). The very tricky high speed section at gravel have not much camber because in 50 km/h there is no g-force, but the corners (in gravel section) is very cambered, more than the rules. This is typical for the real public roads too.
Only the setups (and the driving style) can help to better control. Anyway it’s not the intention to driving a racecar is easy :).

And yes, the replays for a new youtube as a demo for the track and for Grand Prix Legends. There’s lot of people where don’t know what this is, and the movie can maybe explain it   . In the rolling titles I put in the words: simulator, replay, converting to movie; for the people outside the community where don’t know what GPL can be used for.

:new2:  Here is the movie:

Epic track, Thanks! :clap2:

I think I must visit that Tronaasen road IRL. It seems like some old alpine road.

More of these real road tracks, please  :)
Randaberg is my another favourite.

Simbear,

Brilliant track. I am impressed becauwe this must have taken so much work and dedication. It's a masterpiece and a real exciting track to drive. You're a real talent. The graphics are amazing and with the SportsCar Mod, the drive becomes a real adventure.

Chapeau for this epic achievement.

Marx
