Hi Josef Paul, do you have a GPS? Live close by? Might be able to go in a week or two and do some trigonometry, just a little busy right now...

No, I was just down in the area to watch the Tour of California bike race. I do have some people I know down there who might be willing to help out. If you're prepared to do some trigonometry, I'm sure it would be much better than what I could do!

My friend's daughter took his GPS on vacation, when she gets back in a week or two, I'll do a walk! :446:

Wow! Thanks for that link. Amazing stuff.

Ginetto, I won't be back down there until May, but if you still need the info then I will certainly try to get it.

Gregory, thank you for the link ... what a fantastic collection ... the only thing missing is the sound, I would love to hear all those great sports car sounds rounding Paramount, Pebble Beach, Thompson, Cumberland and all those other great old circuits, sadly most now gone ... a great collection to save and refer to, and reminisce over all the great names who seemingly would race any circuit, anywhere, any time, these are the men who helped shape and define motor racing, at least here in the U.S.

here's a short list of prominent drivers names from the entrants list for the 1956 Sebring 12 Hour Grand Prix of Endurance (as written):

M.J. Fangio, Phil Hill, Sterling Moss, Colin Chapman, Mike Hawthorne, Masten Gregory, Count von Trips, Hans Herrmann, Peter Lovely, Forbes Robinson, and Carroll Shelby

quite a who's who of racing at lil ol' Sebring, Florida

:wowspring:

Still no walk with GPS ont the track path?
I'll start to create objects to dress the track and wanted to be sure the elevations aren't too off.

There is a 1964 episode of the TV series "The Fugitive" that has some footage of Paramount Ranch.  Four YouTube clips, but I think the best footage is towards the end of part 4.
Home is the Hunted Part 4

Cheers,
steve

Oops, it's part 3 with the footage Pt 3

Cool  I'm gonna make that little drive to the house in GPL :P
They are driving in the opposite direction in the Fugitive all the time, right?

Looks like Hollywood took some liberties with course direction to me too, Ginetto.

Keith, you only get the road to the house if you're a fugitive.  :D

I certainly hope this Paramount Ranch Raceway track is still 'under construction'.  The beta that Ginetto provided a long while ago is a real "hoot" to drive in the Sports Cars!!!

GPL time is tricky though, it waves up and down and for Paramount was a long down.

I was wondering if anyone has ever modeled it or thought about modeling it.

been done, loong ago by Brent Adams, creator of LimeRock Park ... Brent used to maintain a website about Paramount Ranch, with lots of info and pictures ... it was back around 2002-3, iirc, about the same time or shortly after he released LRP ... I don't have the track anymore, after several hd crashes and different computers, but it was a very good track ... Brent called it a beta and wasn't finished with it, but it was certainly as good as many finished tracks ... from the top of the hill near the bridge, you could both hear and see the cars traveling under the bridge, which at that time was a complicated, neat trick, I think Brent was the first to be able to do that with a GPL track ... your picture reminds me that the track and bridge looked exactly like your picture ... I'm not sure how many ppl had the track, but I'm sure someone still has it, I no longer have it ... I hope someone takes it on as a project, it was an enjoyable track to run, and would be a nice addition to historical racing Americana ... good luck to the next editor who takes it up  Posted Image

The track needs a little finishing up ... and has for a long time. I will probably finish it up , it seems like it's hard to find the time to sit down and do it. It is a fun track and the figure of 8 track crossover is cool.

Maybe I'll post it if anyone wants to try it .....
