Nvidia has released their 197.13 drivers that are supposed to fix problems with earlier drivers. I have had issues with unstable drivers for over a year, so hoped for the best. Deleted and cleaned up after the good ol' 186.18s and installed the newbies. Fired up GEM and watched a 66s at Targa race @60fps in OGL V2. 30fps!!?!?!?! Fps stayed low for a long time too.
Then tried D3D V2. 52fps bog which immediately came up to 60fps and stayed there.
This is much worse performance for OGL and better performance for D3D. They used to be about the same with a slight edge for D3D.
So, I fired up the Unigine Benchmark. I had run it just last week, so had a good baseline. OGL was in between DX9 and DX10. This time DX10 was slightly better, DX9 was much better, and OGL got a black screen saying there was a problem with memory.
I ran Memtest all night. The memory is fine.
Could Nvidia be giving up on OGL? How is work coming on Pribluda for D3D? Personally I prefer OGL.
