What you could try is to delete controls.cfg from your player directory. Then recalibtrate in GPL and see if you can assign the wheel.

Thanks very much for all your ideas, it took quite some hours and restarts, but it now all works!
For reference for future users also using Windows 7 on a new pc and Logitech G27, here is the sequence that I used to finally get it work (based upon your ideas!):
1. Use GPLInstaller (gplinstallmax_0.97_UK.exe) to install the Sold Out CD-ROM of GPL
2. The program will ask you to restart
3. After the restart, install gplrast_v2.5,exe
4. I had than to change the app.ini file in the GPL directory with:
lastRasterizerDLL = roglv2.dll ; Last rasterizer DLL selected
5. Install the latest GPLShift_Patch.exe
5. Start up GPL. My G27 wheel didn't work instantly. I had to delete the controls.cfg a couple of times and fiddle with calibrate joystick and the underlying Controls screen numerous times to get GPL to recognize the steering function of my wheel. Key certainly was also to fully rotate my wheel to the left (900 degrees) during calibration.
I can't adjust the FFB yet, but I will screen the forum to see what can be done.
My shifters on the wheel don't work yet, so I just shift with the G27 H-shifter. Ideally one would have a sequential shifter like the real cars, but unfortunately Logitech made the mistake of only delivering the G27 with a H-shifter. I am waiting for the hyperstimulator upgrade to get that fixed later this year ...
Does anyone else in this forum use the Hyperstimulator wheel+pedals (next to the wooden kit), and what are their experiences?
I hope this anyone else in the future!
Best regards,
Rich
PS: and apologies for my stupid comment on "where is the music in the menus", I was only used to GTR2/Evo and rFactor so far ...

Anyhoo, my G25 has the option of sequential or h-shifting with the twist of a knob on the shifter. For setting up your FFB, this thread might give you some ideas. http://srmz.net/inde...?showtopic=5133

The only real cars I have driven that have sequential shifters are automatics. The stick shift cars have h-shifters.
Well, i am confused now ,(actually my natural state) i seem to recall that for example
The V8 Supercars have sequential gearshifts and so do the the World Ralley cars.
But then you might not have those kind of cars over there where you live......

You didn't realise what calibration actually means then. Calibration teaches the game the whole range of your controller so it knows the steering lock or pedal travel and the centres of all axes. Only then can it know how much throttle you give it or how hard you're braking.
That's why you must ALWAYS go through the full range of every axis on your controller when calibrating it.
Oh, and will you please pick one thread for this?

grego, i think you're spot on. besides there are stickshifters in the us, mostly imports though, either euro or japanese. i don't think they got any holdens or so over there...
wrc rally cars, touring cars, even formula 1 these days, use sequential boxes. though their actual shifter might be different. f1 uses flippy pedals, so do some rally cars, but others use, or at least used to have, a stick that you could push forward for down- and pull backwards for upshifts. the same is true for most touring cars these days. what used to be called the dtm (german touring car series - might be called that again :S) has these 2 way sticks as well.
i'm not entirely sure, but i'm fairly confident that nearly all of the cars racing at le mans have either flippy pedals or 2 way stick shifters with sequential gears.
now as for real cars.. well there's still the old most fun manual h-shifter, then there is the fully automatic box and then there's the semi-automatic boxes. some of the semis are actual manual boxes rigged for automatic use - aston martin used to have a few of those, not much good they were i'm told. with automatic boxes you could probably argue if they are sequential - i have never driven an automatic for long, and only ever in the us, so am not an authority (mostly am not lol). the way they shift is def. sequential, even if it might actually be an H-pattern box inside, as you can't skip gears. the same might be true for the semiautos, where you do decide when to go up or down by flipping a pedal or pushing a button like the tiptronic of porsche, the sele speed of alfa romeo and the smg box of bmw (among others).
bleh. if i'm talking utter bs, gimme flak and set me right.

Yes, there are.
In GPL, there aren't.

I am justyfying it by thinking that you guys are miles ahead of me anyway, so i need all the assistance i can get

I use the most realistic technique that I can, by using a clutch (required) and the H-shifter, simply because I love being immersed in the historic aspect of GPL. I'd even be happy if there were sheep droppings on the roads around the Spa circuit as the drivers of the day complained about.
But going as fast as you possibly can with the equipment you have is a good goal as well.
