I forgot a link on the Speedway wheel and pedals that I use.You wanted more info on them.Just click on the british flag on the second page.

An aircraft standard quality made material, really, with a 340 ° lock to lock, a leather rim, and all alloy and copper spare parts inside.

I have assigned the two paddles as simple buttons inside GPL, as I use the Act Labs.

The width of the projected image is a little wider, but there is more peripheral vision (wider FOV, I use 90 in GPL) so the car appears smaller. Because the pixel density is 60% larger than with my previous projector, it looks much much better. True High Definition.

I will try to take pics later tonight. Usually they come out all wrong though because you need stereoscopic vision to complete the illusion :P

Remco, I'd be interested to see pictures of your new setup with the wider FOV. Everyone has there own preferences and it may well look different when sat in front of it, but those pics you've posted give a very elongated image of the car. It looks like the front wheels are way out ahead of you, when in reality they would be just in front of you to the left and right. In fact they would only be in your peripheral vision if you were looking dead ahead.

Exactly. It does indeed look much more convincing when sat in the cockpit. The gauges appear to be right behind the steering wheel, putting the rest of the image into perspective. It helps immensely with car placement, it just feels right to put the front wheel dead on the apex :)

You're all invited to come and try it out. Now thát would be cool  :clap2:

Yes, on your 4 / 3 former install, I have the same feeling than Ken, wheels too much far ahead

Esthetic or driving efficiency, we will have to choose.Thks for the tip for the Apex,Remco.I feel must be more efficient for corners .

I was wondering if  67 drivers saw the cockpit like us , in GPL, with the default FOV. Gone to Lyon in November, was at an historic cars and motor racing expo.A1968 Matra MS 11 V 12 chassis was there. I could install inside to cockpit, and take shots from the driver view.I set the camera zoom to get what the human eye can really see. Here the result.

It seems Papyrus has done a very good job,as wheels and gauges distance are quite matching with reality.Above all on the second shot, what we see match what we see in GPL when  playing at 1920 X 1080, with the gear level just upon the bottom line !!

Okay here's the current driver's eye view :)

Actual quality utterly destroyed by the camera, obviously

Well that looks more in proportion, and much more like you are sitting in the car, rather than on the back of it!! :)

A quick heads-up if anyone was considering HDMI: my projector cannot display GPL menus via HDMI because the resolution isn't properly supported. DVI is not a problem. I don't know how other brands handle these things but for me at least it doesn't work.

I buggered my DVI cable by accidentally melting it over a hot lamp so I went out a bought an HDMI cable. While I think the image is clearer now, I cannot navigate GPL's menus atm. :idunno:

Do the menus work with the higher resolution menu display mode?

Hey man, I was going to PM you about that :)
I want to try that but I can't find that file anymore.
Failed to get it to work last time...

Could you send it to me again?

Email sent. The patch forces a 1280x1024 display mode, but the menu graphics are the same-old 640x480.

BRILLIANT MATE  :clap2:

That patch works perfectly, projector gets it and menus are nicely readable.

Can't thank you enough Petteri :)

hm, not wanting to hijack, any chance for a 1920x1080 ver? though i'd settle for 1280xsomething too. as long as it isn't 640x480 that barfs up my desktop..

I think only a couple non-widescreen resolutions work, the rasteriser limits this in some way. The menus are not scaled up, so you'll end up with a 640x480 menu in a 1280x1024 display mode.

For Remco, Ken , Brr

A busy schedule left me few time to look after my new PC components, that is the first step before buying the VP itself.

I would like to know if those should be enough to run at a steady 60 FPS GPL ( with all GFX settings to max quality ), as Remco warned.

Case :Cool Master ELITE 335–

Power supply : Antec 500 Watts

Motherboard : ASUS M4A77TD PRO - AMD Chipset ATX - AM3 -
2600 MHz HT - 16Go DDR3 SDRAM 1333Mhz - 1 Ultra ATA/133 (ATA-7) –
6 Serial ATA/300 - 7.1 – RAID 0, RAID 1 - 6 USB2 – Multi GPU CrossfireX

sound chipset controller : VIA 7.1 – PCIE-E + 3 PCI – REF B997062 CPU REF B960536 .But, to be disactivated, and replaced (thks to the various advices of happy SRMZ GPL ers users) by a....

.... Creative X Fi Xtreme gamer ( I have already the 5.1 DDT 2200 Cambridge soundwork install)

CPU : AMD Athlon II X3 400e 2,20 GHz - Tri-Core – 45w (recommended by my PC shop technician , because it work at cool temperatures, unlike others AMD, in his opinion )

  RAM :  4Go x DDR3/1333 DIMM (2x2go) ECC - KVR1333D3E9S/2GI

HDD :2 x 250 Go Ultra SATA Seagate ( for a dual boot XP pro or Win 7 )

  DVD RW : 20X SATA

  GFX : ZOTAC ZT-275E3KG-FSP GeForce GTX 275 -PCI Express 2.0 x16 - 896Mo GDDR3 SDRAM REF (W830179).With TWO DVI connections.

Thanks for your appreciation and advices, before I fix my definitive choice.

Michel
