Have you added cars ?
You used install option 2.. Your GTR2 source (the one you slimmed down) hopefully did *not* have any existing/old PnG stuff ? That would be a big no-no.
XP, Vista or Win7 ? 32bit or 64bit ?
Are you using PnG with the same user account as you used for the installation process ?
Finally, are you running PnG with normal user rights (or even with reduced user rights) ? Or with administrator rights ?
Does it make any difference if you start PnG with admin rights? (Use the right mouse button over the PnG icon on the desktop, there should be a line saying something like: Run as Administrator. Use that)

2) No, comepletely clean new install
3) XP SP1 32 bit
5) only have admin account. no user accounts. So running with admin account
only thing added is some tracks (Lime Rock, LeMans 67 etc) as I think ALL the included tracks suck.

Please try this simple Verifier tool. Pick your installed PnG path with the "folder browser", and set these options on: "reduced file set" and select the PnG version v2.1 from the dropdown control. Please post the result log if there's something wrong (warnings and criticals). Or PM it if you wish.
Was there any complications/prbs while installing v2.0+v2.1update ?
Imola is quite nice exception among standard tracks Uphills, downhills, different turns, not all are level.

did a complete reinstall. Fresh GTR2 updated to 1.1. Re downloaded P&G2 & 2.1 updater. Did an option 2 install. All works except the Corvettes. CTD. Could someone post the WC_CPIT_05_CR material as a .dds so I can drop it in the Corvette folder to see if that will work.
Still running XP SP1 because this is my Graphics/Photography/Game machine and too much of the software I use won't work on SP2. And my laptops running Vista (sucks).
Imola is the best of the included tracks, but still has too many chicanes, screws up the flow. The old track like Lime Rock, Elkhart Lake or 67 Zandvoort have tricky or interesting corners, but have a flow to them that allow you to get into a rhythm and run fast. The tracks with the 1st gear/low speed chicanes are just annoying.

Is your GTRConfig / Shaders set to DirectX9 or Auto or something less? (PnG works best with Dx9)
What's your graphics hardware?

As to the video card. I recently was installing an ethernet card to use my DSL connection on this desktop (still not working). In the middle of doing this the video card failed (an old nVida gforce 2 64 mb, that i was planing on replacing anyway0 so I had to go to Office Depot to get a temp replacement. The only AGP card they had was an ATI Diamond S9250 w/256Mb DDR. Using Catalyst 5.13 drvs. GPU-Z says its DirectX 8.1 capable (have the latest 9c installed). Just for more info, the 906's have black side windows and the Ford GTs have smoky band along the top of the windshield and side windows.
I intend to replace this card but haven't had time to research whats available in AGP cards.

I remember ppl were having prbs with other than Dx9 setting (at least graphical prbs), so could the Dx7 mode be the reason for the Corvette prb? Not many have been using Dx7 anymore ..
