I don't race anymore and seldom post but I can assure you when this track is available I will have it for my GPL installation.  The movie is fantastic!  Many of the newer GPL racers will not know who I am but I was the first to have a GPL world wide server available for racing.  Age has taken its toll and I no longer race but this Sim will be on my computer forever.  Thank you to all of the wonderful creators who have kept GPL alive all these years.

600 meters on 72 kilometer are easy to achieve or to loose, consider you measure a turn in the center of the road or at the inside limit, you can easily have 1 meter of difference; multiply this by the number of turns that targa has, which is 600 and you get your measure right ;)

Could be...
I suppose another logical reason why my measure in Google Earth is 600 meters short of 42 km is that I´m measuring the track as a flat plane and the real track has big gradients which lengthens the real distance a little.

But I noticed that there are also some shortcuts at 21 km, 28 km, 54 km and 55 km. Do you know when they made those and were they in use already in 1963? I also read from the Targa history book that there was a depot half way around the track at Bivio Polizzi. That must have been where the track now underpasses the autostrada at 33 km? The shortcut there is also a newer one?

:P Sorry about all the questions - but I´m blaming it on the interesting book I just finished and my interest in Google Earth and anticipation of this fantastic GPL track.

Excellent preview movie.  I've not played Grand Prix Legends for about 12 months but I feel inspired to get the steering wheel and pedal set out again.

Thanks.

Looking at all of those screenshots, you should see the grin on my face  :D
The scenery is absolutely extraordinary, and I am very much looking forward to spending many a day driving under that beautiful blue Sicilian sky.
Fantastic work!  :clap2:   :artist:

I second that. Obviously, the new '67 patch will have to be released first, including the long track update, and then Targa Florio after that.

Any idea when they will appear? I was hoping that they might have been released last Christmas, but obviously that was too optimistic. Someone please give us a clue!

I've finished my work and will give it to the testers to find eventual errors.
The patch need to be released first, together with a proper site and the eventual lite versions.
So, within a month, maybe ?

Ciao!

I just watch the preview. Man you GPL guys will have a great time. I hope we get this for RF too but would understand why those involved would wish to keep it a GPL project (which makes me drool over GPL lol). I think the scale for evauluating track will have to be rewriting as this looks to be a 50/5
