Not quite as you describe, Michel. Using our edited (XK)nurburg.3dos sets you roughly back to the 2008_beta. So what you see is principally his earlier version without the towers and, I think, the darker tarmac.

Regarding you question on season-signs I'd say that with GEM you select the different mod (via its specific .exe) and if the track is multi-season-capable, it will automatically pick the correct season-files. Thats why you not only need to install the nurburg.3do (for 1967), but also their derivatives like nurburg.365, nurburg.366 and nurburg.369.

And many thanks for putting me on the credit-list. It's a great honour to be there on a list with all these famous names of GPL from 1998 onwards.

Gordon,

After some testing with the 65 , 67 and 69 mods,  seems the Nürburgring isn 't multi season capable" as the same signs are displayed with all the 365 366 and 369 files in my track folder
the good new is that they display with others GPL.exe as the GT mod ;And there was the 1000 km WSC race in 67, where we can reasonably think the signs where the same than for the GP race

Many thanks to you both for another wonderful update.

:hat-tip: :hat-tip:

I have one question that has come to light whilst installing this latest update, and admiring the results via the camera files (although I am not suggesting that the update has caused the "problem").
I have made a camera file for several circuits including the nurburgring. I also have a separate install for each mod, including the 68 "mod" which is applied to a base GPL installation not patched to 67v1.3 It is interesting that the nurburg camera works for all the mods which include the long track patch (65, 66, 67v1.3, 69) but not for the "base" 67 installs. By not works, I mean that the camera positions are not as in the patched installs (in terms of longitude, latitude or height), despite the exact same nurburg camera files, track files and 3do files in each season install. Presumably the patching has affected how the camera file is read, or reset the start point for the readings?

Not a major problem but just interested if anyone has come across this before.

For every year, 1965,1966,1967 and 1969 we have different track 3dos.

Cool...!    (I'm a bit confused though: So this finally is the historically-correct version for 1965/66 *without* the Tiergarten chicane?)

Hi Michel,

I think the Ring is "multi-season-capable", as soon as the mods are. Could it be that you're not running the latest patches, i.e. v.2.0.1 for 65 and v2.0 for 66?
Otherwise you should see for instance in 65 the chevrons at Südschleife entrance, in 66 an exit-sign before the Bosch grandstands (was there during practice) or in 67 a "curve-left" sign before Südkehre.

And you're right: there were only minor differences between May and August 1967, notably at around km 1.9. That's why we chose not to publish our 3do-set for the Prototypes, as it would have blown-up that big nurburg-file unnecessarily.
.

Hi Ruud,

unfortunately this is not a new track, just a graphical add-on. So for 65 and 66 there are no warning-sign, no brake-markers and no Hohenrain-tracksign, but the chicane is still in the game. A correct pre-67-Ring is still very far away, it seems.

Always dreamed of a major job (quite impossible for sure, just dreaming) on the Ring: the real "practice launch lap" on the old Ring as I somewhere read they used to do. If I'm correct they'd actually exit the pits, follow the track till after turn two and then turn right into the street closed by the red-white tyres, wich briefly re-joined the track right after the Hohenrain. Try to imagine: a very short launch lap -and no need of Ring Trainer!
Ok guys, sorry, just dreaming ;)

Grats and thank you all for the awesome job on our beloved sim

Is there any way all the relevant updates in this topic can be combined for easy installation? It's kinda confusing for a GPL returnee (have only played this game since I found out there is now a WSC mod for the game, after last playing it in 2002), all those single files. Or should I just download all updates one by one and dump it all into the standard Nürburgring folder that came with the all in one installer? Those updates make the track look very awesome and makes me want to race the track more often, so any help in installing this realistic looking track is appreciated!

Hi Miguelito,

welcome home  . Nice to see another GPL-returnee.

Yes, it's true - for the moment you have to do it the hard way. Download and install all the updates separately. This is giving you the chance to chose and to combine them with your preferred Nurburg-version.

But we could always ask Yogi to edit this thread's #1 post to put all the relevant files together - not that I'd think it isn't worth to read through all these 21 pages....

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for the info! I managed to get pretty much everything to work. It's amazing how a few laps on the Ring can make you remember every turn and bump of the track again. Racing this updated version makes it much more fun than before!

Can you maybe help me out with a file of the castle? It's missing from the horizon and the files posted earlier in this topic aren't working, none of them.

Thanks to everyone who worked on this update, it's such a blast and keeps this ancient game very much alive! Hell, with tracks like these I might not even need rFactor 2!

Ah yes, that does look much more like the correct hight like how you can see it today. I'll happily wait for that.
