Schleizer Dreieck used to be one of my favorite tracks .... it has been a long time since I had it on my h-d .... mostly because I always seemed to have probs with it online, then I lost it due to a h-d crash .... glad you brought it to attention again .... iirc, there was a minor glitch with the track itself, or something similarly bad that caused it to disco online or ctd .... maybe there has been a fix, or maybe my updated system can now run it better

none of the links work for updates, AI, etc .... any chance you, dmouse, or anyone else can post this great track with any and all updates included ?

thanks .... Bob

thanks Alan, much appreciated   .... the 66 AT's might be a real challenge here, with the tight turns, but the straight is certainly long enough

Nice track! :)

I found a bug. When you get stuck in the hay bales (right side, early in) at Haarnadel and SHIFT+R to get back on track, you reappear INTO the left side hay bales and then you are stuck for good. The only way out is to quit.

Is there a fix for this?

Also, are the online problems described by Bob still in effect or have they been resolved?

Tx

i think you have to make new minrace.lp and maxrace.lp to solve shift-r problem.

I just did. The graphics update are very nice.
Also, the schleizAI.zip file corrects the problem mentioned above. You SHIFT+R in the middle of the track instead of the hay bale.

Thanks Danger mouse.

PS: I don't mean to be a pain in the butt but you still get stuck in that left side hay bale if you SHIFT+R near the beginning of the left side stack of hay bales, not that you would normally have to do that there but still, I thought you might like to know.

Thanks.  :)

Hi,

... but why to persist in hitting the haybale in this damned turn ?

More serious :
it seems that there are some problems with the ai on this track. I've no time enough to create new appropriate files. But about the little problem Hondaman mentionned, jhalli is right. And you'll find in the attachments one maxrace and one minrace that should solve the thing...

Cheers

For this update of Schleiz, start with a clean track folder. Technically not accurate but I think looks half decent. This track has always been to my liking. Have fun if you've never tried it before.

Kenny, I really admire all the updates that you produce. But I have a question. Where on earth do you get all the textures from to create these updates? I started learning how to create tracks a while ago, but the big problem I found was that to make a track look good, you have to use good textures. And the only way I could make my first track look good was to "steal" textures from existing tracks. (Just to make it clear, this is a test track I created just to practice the required techniques - it's not something that I plan to release.) Now that's not really allowed in the GPL community, and understandably so. So where do you get your materials from??

You nailed it right on the head,Saiph. I have pinched a mip here and there for years and now have quite a collection. I am a "thief". With new tracks few and far between these days and so many existing tracks that were left unfinished in my estimation,I'm just trying to keep up the interest with the many great tracks we already have. Sometimes I'd use Paint Shop to change the way a mips looks but my collection is substantial enough now that I seldom have to go that route these days. If ever there is problem with my using utilizing the mips created by someone else(I have so many I can't remember where about 98% came from)these updates will cease immediately and I will ask the Administrators to pull the plug on them. That might be a bit of work as well because I've pumped out close to 100 of them,I think.

What do you think? Should I be drawn and quartered? :idunno: I'm just trying to give the old tracks a new lease on life and like I stated a couple of posts earlier,I deserve no credit and certainly no thanks.

As a follow up to my previous post,I'd have to revise my percentage downward as to the unknown sources of the textures I'm using. The GPL repository is where a good many of them came from and I utilize them extensively(horizons, spectators, fences, trees, etc.) They are there to be used and use them I do. Some are in PSD format and have to be "created" to be used, but I didn't create the source, others have to be converted from bmp to mips like the trees. The generous donors put them there to be seen in other GPL tracks and placing them there is also what I've been doing.

I've made some addons to tracks before using stuff from other tracks.  When you go through a bunch of tracks you see the same mips and srbs being used by different track makers.  When I saw those I figgered they were open to everyone to use.  In an old thread here somewhere Jason Peters said it was ok to use his work, so I used his a lot.  The only tracks I never took anything from are Dave Pearson's tracks.  He never borrowed anything from anyone else.

Exactly,Miklkit. Guys like Mark Beckman and Jetman have stated fire away as to using any and all of their mips, they don't want any credit. If I every use the Jetman's mips,I'll damn sure give him credit because he's got ability I'll never have. I do give credit where credit is due. We agree about Jim Pearson.

We might as well get it all out in this thread. I've been using these 2 mips a lot lately and haven't got a clue as to the texture originator. Anyone care to guess as to where I obtained these 2 mips? You might be surprised.

Since no one wants to guess or has no clue, these 2 mips came from a Nascar 3 track called Road America. That track has better graphics than the one we've got it GPL. What I find just as interesting is the fact that track has a horizon from the GPL Repository, one by by Scott. What comes around seems to go around when it comes to mips useage.

Nascar3?  I made some seriously ugly cars in their paint shop back then.   :rip: I've still got the cds for all but N2003.  Those died years ago.  There really isn't much you can do with that track since you are mostly driving down a concrete ditch anyway.

Scottie made a bunch of horizons that have made their way into several tracks.  Methinks Nurb
Dunky and JPs Mosport use the same horizon.
