Autodromo di Vallelunga International

REAL TRACK

Track Location : Campagnano di Roma - Italy

Track Type : Road Course
Track Lenght : 3.22 kms. - 1.99 mil.
Track Num. Turns : 10
Track Year : 1971 - 1980
http://www.vallelunga.it

Track Editor : Fulvio Policardi
http://www.fpolicard.../vallelunga.htm

Note I : I used a few mips, 3dos and srb files from others tracks, the full credit its for their authors.

Note II : I begun in 2003 to build the track but had many off moments, now I have decided to release it as a beta because graphics are poor. If someone with more graphics skill would want to get better this work I will do him all my support.

Vallelunga
---------------
It's the third permanent track builded in Italy in 1951 after Monza and Imola. Till '69 it was run anti clockwise then in '70 it was modified in the pits and Roma turn to race clockwise. I did the '71 layout where was racing F2 Gran Premio Roma for several years as one of last races of Euro Trophy F2 calendar.
After '90 were added many sand-trap as safe area and lately has been changed Pit entry and added a section between Cimini and Trincea turns to suite FIA rules to host F1 tests.
F1 raced only once on June 18th 1972 in a race named Gran Premio della Repubblica. Emerson Fittipaldi won on Lotus 72 DFV.

---------------

Thank to

GPL Mirror Zone for hosting this track.

Enjoy the drive...

June 11th 2007, I have updated track.ini and readme.txt in the main installer so no more need to download apart.

Thanks, I got the 2nd download!  After such a great weekend (Watkins Glen, Montreal F1 and Portland Champcar) I checked in and found a new track.  I've about half a dozen laps with no problems.  Nice fast flow...  Ok, maybe the objects/textures can be improved later.  But I can see that you put a lot of work into the elevations and cambers etc.  This is really nice construction and a super drive.
Mille grazie

Many thanks Fulvio   :beta:  :newtrk:

This will keep us busy until Ginetto's 1967 version comes out next week and then we'll have two!!  :clap2:

Attached is a new track.ini so that it will show up in GEM as Vallelunga '71 so people will not get confused with vallenaz if they haven't downloaded the GEM picture available at the track database.

edit: removed track.ini as new one in download.

Here is a small graphics tweak for this excellent and very well designed track. Great frame rate. Technically not correct but just an attempt to infuse a few more colorful textures and the Repository horizon looks closer to this Italian locale.

I've tried your update, I like the horizon and the rails. I prefer my curbs and pitwall textures though cause they were not coloured in early '70s. Is there a missing textures on the wall over the hill? I see it white.

Ciao

Hello Fulvio

I simply just changed the wall to a plain white one. As I said, this update isn't correct but just a fantasy one. I love your version of this track as it runs like a scalded cat on my computer  If you find my update in poor taste,I'll get Dangermouse to delete it.

No problem Kenny, I found your update a great contribute to my work, maybe I could get rid of the beta definition :)

Thanks,Fulvio. That makes me feel better. I think yours is a great track and as far as I'm concerned,it's no beta. Like we say in America,it's the real McCoy. Terrific fun racing here as it surely is one of my favorites. I thank you for creating this track. Gpvl has also been among my favorite tracks from the past. If I remember correctly,Tom Clark did a very nice update for that one IMO.

Be well,Sir. :clap2:
