But he still suffered big healthy problems caused by his crash in '76. Got new lungs last year an think he never fully recovers from this. Rest in peace Niki!

Yes, I liked his 'no bullshit' approach too where he just said it like it was ... until he got a job at Mercedes...

I thought the same... He was my hero when I was 13... And I start racing thinking his exemple could help me... And in fact, no... I'm not in steel...
I think the most beautiful thing he made (that I know) is the enquiry about his commercial plane that crashed in Asia. As usual he never gave up and thanks to that, the defect of the plane could be found, and I can imagine a lot of life saved...
At this time, he had the purest way of driving, it was as if he was “stuck“ to the track while the others were sailing...
It was absolutely amazing to watch him.
R.I.P Nicolas Lauda

I also liked his direct way.
And I liked his comments for the TV channel RTL on the F1 races.
Here is a good interview with Florian König who worked with Niki as moderator for 22 years (in German language, a good online translator is for example DeepL ):
For those who have the TV channel, RTL has changed its program tonight. They will broadcast about Niki the whole evening (20:15 until midnight):
Nice that Niki was still able to consult for the movie Rush before his health went down.

I also loved his no-BS attitude.
I hoped he'd get back in the paddock later this year, but it seems his health only deteriorated.
Didn't anticipate it happening so soon.
He will be dearly missed
RIP Niki Lauda.

I agree with the comments about his, lets say it how it is attitude. I also loved his openeness and honesty and even though he became in later years, involved with Mercedes, he was respected until the end and was just an all out F1 fan, like me and you.
His bravery from that Suzuka race in 76, where he retired due to the adverse weather. He took a lot of critiscm for that but turned it around in later years.
I kind of hoped he'd be back in the F1 pit lane this year, but unfortunately it's not to be. You will not be forgotten Niki for your devotion to racing ☹️

Emerson was the smoothest driver on a track, recognized widely as a great stylist, and knew as well as Lauda how to set up cars, and how to manage races.
Nothing against Niki,he was a great manager ...
