I had the opportunity to visit the museum in 2008 . Now,the cars will be returned to their owners.
The museum at that time had the larger concentration of sixties single seaters cars. One of the key feature for us were the cars that disputed the GPL original 67 season :
BRM P 83 + a H16 4 valves engine on display
Brabham BT 24
two Brabham BT 20 ( Hulme + Ligier cars)
Cooper T 81 (Jo Bonnier car)
Eagle Climax AAR 101
.. and the first Matra Cosworth MS 9, a McLaren M4A
" Now, with the circuit being operated by Motor Sport Vision ( what a lack of vision !), the Donington Collection is considered unsustainable and will close in November. The remaining exhibits are being returned to owners or sold." Why unsustainable ?Let us laugh!
May some of us pay a visit again before its closure. It seems many cars are already gone.
GPL members as the late Rudy Dingemans came there and returned with pics to help modders; it was very easy to
get close shots of the cars, jumping the ropes !
