My (outdated) opinion :)

https://youtu.be/dq07q4WFs2Y

Top 5 about now:
1 - 55 mod
2 - GT
3 - 67X
4 - TC
5 - 69X

(Yup, 65 pretty much dropped due to declining interest.
Plus I feel that this mod has fallen off for me because of how other recent mods do appear to outclasses it in a number of ways. 65X, anyone?)

Ah, spotted your comments on Erik2Ammo's link above, regarding him getting there first.

Didn't realise, Yannick, that you'd done a similar video. Thanks for link and kudos to you πŸ‘

I'm more into F1 mods though. Regarding my list.

Although 67x, I presume, that you mean 67 historic?I just couldn't get on with this, due to, as stated by Erik2Ammo, car switching.

I have the stratos mod Somewhere, but never tried it enough to comment on this.

Again Canam as not been of interest to me. I have tried the 71 version, but I couldn't get on with the physics and the AI seemed to be weird. For me anyway ?

The Canam 66, again I have, but I have never installed or tried it yet. I think that mod, may suit me better. As it's in the mid sixties. Will have to install and give it a run out, some time.

Tried the TC mod also and it was fun. But the lack of historical realism, put me off on this πŸ€”

Outside that I really like the GT mod too, but just outside the top 5.

Anyway here's to all the mods and all the hard work, that all the modders have accomplished, so far. Here's to them and hopefully, more to come, in the future.

Thank you πŸ‘

TP 😁

Even though I was a beta tester on the 65,66,and 69 mods. I never drive them. All the mods are too easy to drive to me. Even the 67 Historic mod.

I just drive the Papy 67 F1 cars now. Even though they're not correct. I'd rather drive incorrect too hard than too easy.

I think this is the key of GPL success

"Even though they're not correct. I'd rather drive incorrect too hard than too easy. " (Gaimari, 2018)  ;)

Most of us agree that the original GPL cars are "too difficult" and the less realistic, but they have that "something" that keep most of the guys driving them.

In terms of realism my top five (only open-wheels) are:

55
67x
F2
69x
66

Thanks twinpotter! :)

My list hasn't changed much, though I do appreciate the 1965 mod a lot more now after using it in online races. Before that I found it a bit boring, but I was wrong!

1. 67x
A good refinement of the original GPL cars, with new ones thrown in for good measure.

2. 66
A large selection of cars. Some powerful & fast like the Ferrari 312, others lighter & very manoeuvrable like the BT11 models.

3. 67GT
Varied selection of cars. Ferrari 330/P4 is possibly my favourite GPL car of all. GT40's, Lola are classics. Chaparrals are interesting.

4. 69x
Varied selection. So fast, including around the corners due to the wings. Lotus 49B, Matra MS80 and McLaren M7 are classics.

5.= 66CA/71CA
The power and sounds of these cars are fantastic. I genuinely can't split these mods, as the '66s have better manoeuvrability, but the '71s are just pure beasts with amazing top speed, and they're so satisfying when you get used to making them go around the corners.

It seems obvious that the smaller/slower cars are actually the ones that are more favoured, according to the list.
I find it funny that it my case it seems quite the opposite, apart from the 1955. :P

These days I'm more into cars that can go fast, mainly TC and GT.
I'd like to try some 67X online but there are no European Leagues doing this currently, and the N/SA scene will be a ping disaster for me, plus inconvinient times.
Speaking of which, is there actually still something going on in Asia/Oceania? It seems that apart from some drivers I haven't seen anything in regard of... well, everything.

I think this choice is related to the ease of driving that the original MOD 67 does not have. When you try and you can not complete ever one lap without fly out of the track, it's natural to be disappointed and to abandon the simulator - this happened to me several times with the MOD 67 stock. That's why I prefer slower and more maneuverable cars. With the 67x, maybe the expectation of dominating a little the "original" cars increases ...

65
67x
66
55
67f2

I don't really drive anything other than 65's at the moment, but to complete the list I have included the others in order of preference.
That said the original 67's are where it's at for me too, because of their difficulty, I just don't have much time for racing these days.
i hesitated to add the gt's as I'm more into open wheel racing but it is a fantastic mod, as are the others too, i just don't drive 'em.

Jerry Entin, who owned the car used by Elvis, provided some background information to the mod team about the car. He is also featured in the mod. He got the car from John Coombs, who had Graham Hill as his driver, driving in British Events and also the 1965 Riverside race. The car was painted in a very light Grey at this point. Jerry Entin painted it Nassau Blue with yellow striping, but loaned it to MGM for Elvis' film. They painted the car gold and brown. When Jerry got it back he painted it Nassau Blue again with a black sill. After loaning the car the Oldsmobile engine wouldn't run right for more than 10 minutes, which is why he had to abandon the Laguna Seca Can-Am race after practice. He later found out they sabotaged the engine putting ball bearings in it to disable the car, I would imagine for insurance reason. Possibly they were afraid Elvis had a lead foot? Anyway, I believe this was the very first McLaren production car as well, built in license by Elva Cars.

Great info TvO. You see why I could never decide between rock music and motor racing ? I saw this film in 1965 when i was 6 years old, and the impression I had from it was that a racing driver drives a fast and beautiful car, when he stops at the pits there were a blond, a burnette and a red hair girls waiting, and he jumps out the car, grab a guitar, and play a song for them, and they all fall in love with him. How wrong I was !!!..The only "racing driver" able to do this was Elvis himself. We mortals must decide between them. Trying to do both is impossible !!!
Was it your idea to include Elvis car in the mod ?

ThatΒ΄s why I was fooled by Elvis !!!... I was just a 6 year old kid !!...and everything got even worse when I saw Elvis other racing movie Viva Las Vegas.
Actually, I should blame my mother for this. She was an Elvis fan even before I was born. I got all this Elvis influence because of her.
