i've not changed anything - i've even searched here for (stutter) and verified my video card settings are same.
OS=win10
Vid card nVidea GTX650 8mg RAm

this past week, while online i noticed it.. like when someone chats, or joins the server. that brief pause.
it was happening 5 or 6 times a lap (at Zeltweg71) sometimes less, sometimes different locations.

today, i tried joining a different server / diff track - and had same issue.
then i just loaded GPL Offline - and i get the same stuttering!
so its my system, or video card... or??

it doesn't seem to affect FPS

i'm at a loss to even guess what to try next -
any one have an idea?

I suspect it was just the accursed join-leave lag which I've always experienced, Bo.  Damnable thing.  

From what I gather, it's just something we have to live with.

Has Windows 10 sneaked a video driver update onto your PC without you noticing? I remember a couple of months back, Windows 10 asked me to restart because of an update. It didn't say what was being changed (as usual), I thought perhaps it was just the Windows Defender being updated. But when I checked later, I found I had a newer driver!

One of the main reasons that I looked for a Win 7 downgrade on my last laptop purchase.

thanks.. but 'rolling back' (specifically video driver) is beyond my 'expertise'
appreciate the suggestion, but a test again this morning showed all good, so "MAYBE" i'm ok (?)  

the deepest concern is 'someday' GPL just won't run on win10 or 11 .... i'll have to invest in a pc w/WINxp

Just to clarify, Bo fixed this himself by rebooting his computer.

Bo, this certainly did sound like a program running int he background. If it happens again, exit GPL and open the Task Manager (left click on the bottom toolbar) to see if something is running like an updater or virus check..

Just as a thought, might the lag occur depending on which rasteriser set used?  I've used Open GL V2 for quite some time but does Direct 3D V2 avoid the join-leave stutter?

don't you mean upgraded from win 10

goin from win 7 to win 10 is a downgrade

IIRC you can turn off that Windows 10 updates any drivers.
My Win 10 does not.

Nope.  The laptop was sold as having Win 10.  There were discs provided to downgrade to Win 7 Pro.

My Win 10 does not.

I can't find any official way to adjust automatic updates at all, except for stating when my "quiet times" are on the PC, when Windows 10 will ask me to reboot. I've seen some websites giving guides about editing various Windows 10 settings files, and editing the registry to turn off or otherwise adjust updates, but even though I'm a bit of a techie, I'm not going to risk hacking around like that.

Effectively I've just learned to accept that Microsoft now has more control over my PC than I do.

I know for sure that my Windows 10 does not install for example grphics drivers updates, as I still have to install them via the Nvidia Program.
I think I have deactivated the driver updates with this tool:
