Today, our track builders have better software tools and more techniques to overcome those issues.
Where would one go looking for those programs and techniques? I have a feeling the track building tutorial is outdated by now.

in these updates there are the files horiz1.m55 & horiz2.m55 but they don't match the horizon files that I have (I assume from Thomas L├Ąchele's update) & on the s/f straight the horizon is just wrong. when I remove them, the horizon is consistent again.

why are there only the 2 m55 horizon files when there are 12 (0-11) from Thomas?
was there a difference in the 1955 horizon compared to 1967?

sorry I can't grab a screenshot, howie's nor greenshot will take an 'in game' screenie.
I use ogl v2 on win7 pro 32bit. what program do you use Greg?

Roo, from the Post #1 instructions: Thomas Laechele's v2 beta update - [DO NOT use the alternative vegetation / sky OR the type7 horizon files]

The type7 horizon files will miss-match with the ones that I provide.  The horiz1.m55 & horiz2.m55 files are not '55 specific, but I provide them as horizXX.m55 in the 'update files only' archive so that they may be included in that update method as well as the 'complete track folder' archive. They match up with the standard type3 horiz0-11 files from Thomas.  :)

The two horizon files have been updated by me to make the view more appropriate as you drive down the long D27 straight.

Btw, I use OGLv2 on a Win 7 64-bit system.

Not a problem, my friend.  I'm glad that you enjoy the '55 track version.  A few more small updates are coming to Reims, soon.  :)

Update v2.0 for the 1954 Reims track conversion in Post #1. This update also includes new files for many parts of the 1966 version in a separate D/L or as part of the complete track folder archive D/L.

New flags on the pit buildings, track shadows of the Dunlop bridges improved, complete re-work of all the signal posts around the circuit - including re-positioning of the main timing building just after the S/F line, a fix to the pavement at the Muizon corner exit and a complete re-work of Thillois corner with removal of the barrier behind the gravel runoff.  This is in addition to the new S/F line and grid boxes from the previous update.

I am fortunate to have the help of Denis B. (Db312) on some of the texture updates.

Enjoy!!  :)

It is always good to get responses from the community - especially on tracks that encompassed many man-hours of work.  :)

I always like to express my thanks Greg, as many others do here. You guys that can mod GPL and do it so well, really deserve thanks as it takes a lot of doing. And dear old GPL just would`nt be what it is today if it wasn`t for you guys.

:)

Small update in Post #1 (v2.1) to the Complete Track Folder archive.  These are updated files from Thomas after his Reims major update on his web site.  They are for all track years.

Guys... I have a funny problem with the camera view at Reims.

First off I`m not absolutely certain it`s definitely a problem with this track`s camera only or the 55 update for this track but I`ve not really seen it at other tracks so thought I`d just post in here about it. I hope that`s ok.

The problem is with the TV2 camera. When watching the cars from it, it goes all wonky. Upside down, stretched. Just not right but only at a couple of places around the track. Hopefully the attached screens will show what I`m trying to explain.

Attached File  cam TV2 - 1.png   1.02MB   19 downloads

Attached File  cam TV2 - 2.png   1.02MB   20 downloads

Attached File  cam TV2 - 3.png   900.58K   17 downloads

Attached File  cam TV2 - 4.png   1006.5K   14 downloads

I`ve had this track and the updates for it installed for a while and never really noticed it before. Has anyone else noticed this or is it something my end?

tj
