for anyone like me that like file icons, here is my collection.
some i made, some i didn't. credit to their creators.
a good program for adding & editing the file extensions is "file types manager"

edit: i have included a readme in the zip file

with xp it is simple, but win7 you will need filetypesmanager. not tried on win10.

from the readme:

"winXP:
Open up a copy of Windows Explorer and then choose Folder Options from the Tools menu. Select the File Types tab, and then choose the file type you want to change and click the Advanced button. In the “Edit File Type” dialog you can click the Change Icon button, and then select an icon

Win7:
there is no longer this option."
