I have finally finished the 1968 carset for the GPL F2 Mod! It's my first carset and I'm a bit nervous, so please let me know if you find any problems. The file can be downloaded at the following link:

https://www.dropbox....t v1.0.zip?dl=0

To use this carset you must already have the 1967 F2 mod installed.

Note that this carset only contains new skins, there are no new physics or models: for example the Tecno uses the Lotus 41B physics and model with a new skin. Also note the carset does not contain the full set of numbered skins required for online racing.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Unzip the compressed files.
2. Copy each file to the corresponding folder in your existing GPL installation (e.g. copy the files in the Layout folder to your GPL Layout folder).
3. In GEM+, select the Carsets menu and move the 1968 Formula 2 carset to the list of active carsets.
4. Select the 1968 Formula 2 carset from the drop-down menu in Gem+.
5. When you run GPL, GEM+ will create a new .exe file automatically.

If you use the same player as for the 1967 F2 Mod, you will still have your existing setups available but you will over-write your best laps.

UNUSED CARS:
The Cooper T84, Brabham BT14, Protos 16 and Matra MS5 are available for the player to use, unchanged from the 1967 F2 mod, but are not used by AI drivers.

AI FILES:
There are two AI driver files provided. The default file (dr68F2.ini) includes Jim Clark. An alternative file (dr68F2[1968 Rees not Clark].ini) replaces Jim Clark with Alan Rees.
To use this file, first rename the default file (e.g. to dr68F2[Clark].ini ) and then rename dr68F2[1968 Rees not Clark].ini to dr68F2.ini.

CREDITS:
The main bulk of the credit for this carset goes to the original GPL creators and the 1967 F2 mod team. I have just built on what they created.
Special thanks go to Tommie van Ostade (TvO) for making the orginal 1967 F2 skins, and for talking me through the carset process. Thanks Tommy!

Nice work. I installed the car set, and created a new 1968 F2 driver name to use it, copying over my setups from my 1967 F2 driver. This keeps everything nice and separate. It works really well, and the new paint jobs look good.

I took this photo at Donington Park in 1968. This is the Brabham BT23C that Kurt Ahrens drove in 1968.13031601.jpg

Hi Andy.

Are you certain that photo is from 1968 - it looks like a modern helmet and roll bar.

In 1968 Ahrens was definitely running a Caltex-sponsored car.

Hi JonnyA. Sorry, I took the photo in 2002. I also got the info from the oldracingcars.com website. about the car. It's an interesting site.
