The 1967 12 Hrs. Of Reims had a very unique start time: midnight local time, so start your racing with the GPL Fog for night settings applied in your first stint. :)

Here is the race report Greg provided when he posted his excellent carset for this race you can get here:

If we use the Le Mans Sarthe at Night 1967 track by Roland Ehnstrom and add these fog settings to it :
[fog]
type=1
density=.1
fog_r=108
fog_g=102
fog_b=114

we can simulate the early morning pre-dawn (or twilight for that matter), for a drive or a race :
Attached File  picture001.JPG   103.39K   30 downloadsAttached File  picture002.JPG   102.33K   31 downloadsAttached File  picture003.JPG   82.86K   26 downloadsAttached File  picture004.JPG   84.36K   26 downloads
Attached File  picture006.JPG   100.09K   29 downloadsAttached File  picture007.JPG   85.11K   29 downloadsAttached File  picture008.JPG   83.99K   27 downloads
Attached File  Le Mans morning.JPG   104.8K   19 downloads

I provide the track here with asphalt from one of the bsarthe add-ons: :bandana1:

[Event xx]
name=24 Heures Du Mans Nuit
shortname=Le Mans Morning
trackDirectory=nbsarthe
numberOfLaps=28
day=11
month=6
startingGrid=2

Attached File  nbsarthe.zip   5.16MB   5 downloads

So with this added horizon option you can simulate the 24 Hrs of Le Mans :
Part 1 = daytime/afternoon start = bsarthe track (no fog settings)
Part 2 = dusk = nbsarthe (with added fog)
Part 3 = night = bsarthe (with added fog)
Part 4 = first light/pre-dawn = nbsarthe repeat
Part 5 = daytime/afternoon finish = bsarthe repeat (no fog)

Hi Greg :)

It's from Excel2007 but should work with newer versions hopefully. There are 4 tabs at the
bottom for selecting Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans, and Reims. I aim to get some sky horizon's for dusk/dawn
worked out for the other races besides Le Mans, so you'll notice I've made those options available for tabulating, but
everyone may feel free to modify it to your own preference. Just add your own player's name at the bottom of
the drivers listing. :wave:

Per the Realism Police, make sure all your track ini's of your bsarthe & nbsarthe track folders for the 2
Le Mans tracks for the 24 hour races have this for your pitboard location:

pit_board= -7.0 7990.0  -100.0 100.0

This is the historically correct location for receiving signals from the race team via pitboard. It was
moved to the exit of the Mulsanne Corner following the tragic 1955 accident. A contributing factor
to the awful tragedy was the fact that cars would brake suddenly to make their pitbox after receiving
the signal to pit. Starting in 1956 the signal location was moved to the Mulsanne Corner.

Hmmmmm.... shouldn't the signalling pits be on the right-hand side of the track as per your second photo?  You have 6.5 8010.0, which places it on the left-hand side.  I use: -7.0 7940.0

:)

Early morning or dusk sky option for 24 Hrs. of Daytona :

[fog]
type=1
density=1.5
fog_r=50
fog_g=50
fog_b=50

This softens the sky and gives a slight pink glow to some clouds while leaving the horizon over the main
grandstand darker.
Attached File  picture001.JPG   87.67K   17 downloadsAttached File  picture002.JPG   80.51K   20 downloadsAttached File  picture003.JPG   81.77K   18 downloadsAttached File  picture004.JPG   82.7K   19 downloadsAttached File  picture005.JPG   77.65K   16 downloadsAttached File  picture006.JPG   84.05K   12 downloadsAttached File  picture007.JPG   82.54K   9 downloadsAttached File  picture008.JPG   83.97K   9 downloadsAttached File  picture009.JPG   87.02K   11 downloadsAttached File  picture010.JPG   78.02K   13 downloads

Or for a darker option :

[fog]
type=1
density=2.0
fog_r=0
fog_g=0
fog_b=0

Attached File  dark1.JPG   78.82K   13 downloadsAttached File  dark2.JPG   79.26K   11 downloadsAttached File  dark3.JPG   75.89K   11 downloads
Attached File  dark4.JPG   78.11K   12 downloadsAttached File  dark5.JPG   84.32K   12 downloadsAttached File  dark6.JPG   79.97K   9 downloads
Attached File  dark7.JPG   84.27K   9 downloadsAttached File  dark8.JPG   93.66K   12 downloadsAttached File  dark9.JPG   74.6K   12 downloads

For me I will make a subfolder in my track folder to hold these settings for use in simulating the
transformation from day to full darkness. :)

Hmmmm. That's strange, I could have swore I copied & pasted Greg's values over my original post which was on the wrong side of the track.
Well I can tell you that with the setting in post  #23 the pitboard appears just as you round the Mulsanne Corner and is displayed to near the end of the signalling area on the right hand side. Maybe Greg can drop by & give us his take on it. :)
Edit - Oh I see Greg edited his post at #24 one minute after I edited mine at #23. :friends:
