The small yet elegant Castle Combe track is great.

Get Mike Cotchin's Castle Combe Hires version here:

ccombe_high.zip

or the medium res version

Castle Combe high Version: Draw distance fix

Originally the track was drawn 2 times resulting in massive overlaps and CTDs (crash to desktop) with ceratin camera angles (car and track cams).

This fix limits the drawdistances to 1385 m ahead and 900 m behind. There will be no overlaps an any camer setting should cope with that.

There will be no visible difference. No popups.

Only required when using the "high" version.

Here's another track that has never been updated to my knowledge and it's easy to see why it hasn't. Most of Castle Combe is a 4 bit gem even after all these years and IMO needs no updating. The existing asphalt and grass textures are untouched. I changed the trees and spectators and not too much else except for a more realistic horizon by Scott that is closer to what the Wiltshire track site looks like.

Be sure and get the above draw distance fix for the hires version, which was used for this update. This truely is a great track, still one of the best ever in GPL in my way of thinking. Enjoy. :)
