This was talked about in a thread on a different topic elsewhere, so some of you might have missed it.

To change the default player's face & helmet you must :
Put your choice of plaface.mip into the cars>carsF2>Brabham folder.
Put your choice of plahelm.mip into the cars>carsF2>Ferrari folder.

(Make sure you backup the default files in case you are not happy &  want to go back to them.)

Thanks to Greg (gliebzeit) & Tommie (Tvo) for solving it for us.

Is there any way of getting a given face/helmet mip combination to be my default player setup for all GPL mods or must I import the mips into each mod car separately which is very long winded and appears not to work consistently. For example I tried to make a Jim Clark face and helmet (claface.mip and clahelm.mip) in Mod65 by remaining to 'pla..' as suggested, and got a neutral white helm and masked face.

No, unfortunately there is no consistency between one mode and another. :idunno:

That's a pity. Any idea how I can get the Jim Clark face and helmet (claface.mip and clahelm.mip) in Mod65 Lotus 33 to be my player head? Simply copying and changing to pla..mipgot a neutral white helm and masked face. As a Clark mega-fan I'd like to achieve the look even though my driving abilities are pretty poor!!

Hi, it's not for bad will, when you know how, it's a rather easy thing to do, but I don't have mod65 installed, so I cannot point you to the right file to be renamed. I am sorry. :idunno:

gabuck, do this:

copy claface.mip and clahelm.mip from the GPL/cars/carsF2/lotus folder to a temporary folder
rename claface.mip to plaface.mip
rename clahelm.mip to plahelm.mip
copy plaface.mip and plahelm.mip from your temporary folder to the GPL/cars/carsF2/lotus folder

This will put Clark's face and helmet on the player's #35 car.

I thought gabuck issue is with Mod65 and not  with modF2. I must have misunderstood.

You are correct Mr Spinning, it is Mod65, but thanks for your suggestion gliebzeit.

As an 'oldie' I still find it fantastic that guys from the US and Nederlands are trying to help someone from the UK to resolve a problem with a computer game I bought in 1996!!
