This is an alternative track installer based on Inno Setup. Inno Setup is a free Windows Setup creation tool. Basically this installer needs the same files as Martin Granberg's track installer but adds some features which aren't included in Martin's installer.

We had some testing but it's still a beta. If you have features/questions please post them here. I will try to keep this opening post actual with the latest version.

What is needed if you want to create a track installation ?
The same files as before:
Your Trackfiles:

DAT
Install.ini
maxrace.lp
minrace.lp
pass1.lp
pass2.lp
pit.lp
race.lp
readme.txt
record.ini
rpy
screenshot.bmp (not mandatory)
track.ini

Inno Setup and ISTool. You can download them here as a QuickStart Pack: http://www.jrsoftware.org/isdl.php
Just download and start and confirm the defaults. This isn't mandatory. All files are included now and you can use the BuildTrack.cmd instead.

Next the latest GPLtrackinstaller.zip file from here. Download and unzip.
Place your trackfiles in the track subdirectory and make sure that you have a comlete install.ini in the track subdirectory.
Then you can use the BuildTrack.cmd
Alternative you can use the ISTool. Open trackinstaller.iss by a double-click. The ISTool should open. You only need to hit Ctrl + F9 and the track will be compiled and the finished exe file will be found in the subdirectory Output.
Feel free to use it :)

Many thanks Bernd!!  :realbighug:

This is something that has been needed for a while now that GPL has been "upgraded", and it works brilliantly as recent tracks show.

Thanks a lot to you Keith for all the feedback as well as some of the other guys which showed a lot of respect and tried it and gave feedback too.
I need to finish some/all of my little projects to find some time to enjoy racing :)

Due to a request to compile a track I have altered it a bit. See the first post for an updated version. Feel free to ask for other enhancements or if you find bugs to post them here.

Thanks for Keith and Bill !

And of course for Jordan who build Inno Setup (http://www.innosetup.com/isinfo.php)

I just gotta :bump2: this, as it is so great to use and makes life so much easier for the end user now that all the mod bits and GEMpic can be placed in the track folder from the installer.

Wicked utility!! :thanks:

Thanks Keith but it was mainly you who had the idea and wishlist and I was more or less the tool :)

So a lot of it belongs to you :)
Errr :idunno:

I ask for it and you make it and you think I deserve anything? Me thinks you're being a bit bashful, Bernd. ;)

Without your constructive inputs I would not have made this, hehe.
I'm no track creator and haven't seen anything which the original one was missing unless you asked and gave me some hints.

But,

anyway,

the most important is that it helps :)

Not your fault :)

@ Bernd :

Found a slightly but important error in the readme  ;)

Quote

from the readme.txt

[installinfo]

;Titel for the track installer
dialogtitel=GPL Addon Track Install: Name of the track

that must be dialogtitle  :)

Oh no ........   grrrrrrrrrrr !
I thought that I had fixed it but must have been in one version on one computer and I uploaded another one with the failure still included.

The problem is that I don't trust an external hdd anymore after my previous one had died on me with the notebook hdd dying shortly after. I have recovered a lot but with the problem that versions might be slightly different.

The fixed one will be up in a minute (need coffee first) :)

Should be fine now. I have changed the lines as well as I have included a demo install.ini file which of course must be changed to suit the track project :)

While not so many tracks are released today I just had a question if it would be possible to allow only installation of track dir without touching any season or gp ini file. I have adjusted the installer so this is now possible as far as I could test it.
Additional I updated the used Inno files to version 5.3.10 and adjusted the track installer readme.
Have fun :)

New version up. Only difference is updated Inno files while I could imagine that I could integrate a "Delete previous version" page so that the user can decide to overwrite or to wipe out previous trackdir.

Version 1.15 uploaded. Main "feature" now included is flag=xx in install.ini which must be set. See opening post for download.
