It needs higher pixel density than that. Such monitor would have been extremely useful at my last job, exactly for MS Excel and Powerpoint :P .

1080p is not exactly the latest standard. I've now got a 1440p screen and the difference in clarity is insane! Coming from 1080p, it looks like maximim AA is on but without any blurring.
I went with 3440x1440 @ 100Hz and it's just perfect. 144Hz is even better but 100Hz is more affordable and it's a lot easier to reach and maintain 100fps for buttery smoothness.

So yes, the width is impressive but 1080p is not.

I recently moved from a 24 inch 1080p monitor to a 27 inch 144hz 1080p monitor and I must say that at sizes like that 1080p isn't really cutting it indeed. For large tv's 1080p is still fine in my opinion, but for a monitor it's a different story.

If I knew this before I wouldn't have bought that 144hz monitor.
