Part 1 - Basic Install

I have just gone through the process of re-installing this carset.  I found that the files and info are a bit scattered over this sub forum.  Thought it might be useful to summarise it all in a new thread.  I will also include a few extra files from my archive that I couldn't find elsewhere. Must point out that only one file was created by me. I only edited 2 characters in that one. I have credited the creators where I know who they are. Thanks to them all.

The install for Irridux's v2 carset is neatly packaged by Millenium (with GEM+ install by X5494 and layout fix by zalo) here
http://srmz.net/inde...=30#entry129332

You can find the same files with instructions posted by TvO here (useful if Millenium's link gets broken at some point).
http://srmz.net/inde...321

Either of these should give you a basic working installation.

Part 2 - Additional Files

After my re-install I added/updated the following files not included above.  I didn't spot them anywhere else in the sub-forum, hence reposting here.

1968 season file (put it in your \seasons folder)
Attached File  68season.ini   2.97K   25 downloads

ai file (this is just a copy of gpla69.ini, put it in the main GPL folder)
Attached File  ai_c68.ini   24.92K   29 downloads

Wing Settings Layout - updated layout to allow you to adjust wing settings.  (put in your \layout folder).
Attached File  68carset wingsettings.zip   196.3K   30 downloads

Ferrari Brakes update (put in the \cars\ferrari) folder
Attached File  Ferrari Brakes.zip   25.18K   26 downloads

Fix to the team layout fix originally by zalo.  I found that the Ferrari car pic was not displayed in "Player Info" and "Team Info" screens, so I hex edited it to show FPC68.pbf from the layout files in post #1.  Put in your \layout folder.
Attached File  team_layout_68_fix_v2.zip   4.7K   30 downloads

Part 4 - Alternative cars

Here is Irridux's v2 pre-wings carset.  These are an alternative to the v2 winged cars in post #1.  To install I just put them in a \cars\cars68_b folder and put the driver ini file in the main GPL folder (renamed to dric68b_b.ini).  I didn't use any of the layout files or sounds.  I can then do a manual folder & file rename to swap with the v2 winged cars.

Good stuff!

Maybe it's an idea to make a new complete drag & drop folder that has everything (including your addons/updates)?

Just to say they are not my updates (bar one tiny change).  The package you put together went a long way to easing the install process, so updating that would be good.  It might get a bit big if you include everything, or were you just thinking about the "Step 2 - Additional Files"?

If you do update it, then I will change the above posts to include a link to it.    I still think it's useful to have all the files here on SRMZ in case other sites/links are lost.

Hi friends.
I saw there is a Irridux's v1 carset (post #3) and a Irridux's v2 carset.
Newbie question: to install v2 do I need to install v1 first or can I install v2 directly?

You only need the v2 download from post #1 above. No need to install v1 first

I made the installation as explained and apparently everything was OK.
As I was not enthusiastic about this MOD, and to not overload the installation I have, I thought about uninstalling it. However, for fear of deleting something important, I decided to leave the installation as it was and just disable the MOD in GEM +.
Then the problems started: when I accessed any other MOD via GEM+, my steering wheel (G27) sometimes the accelerator was not recognized,  sometimes it didn't recognize the brake, sometimes the clutch (as I have other simulators installed, I tested them and everything was OK , avoiding the hypothesis of problems with the equipment).
I deleted all the "GPLC" for GEM + to rebuild them but the problem persisted.
Then I tried to run the original "gpl.exe", which should access the original MOD 67, but to my surprise I accessed the MOD 68, with the same wheel problems.
As a result of the drama, I considered this installation lost and recovered a full backup I had archived (for my good luck...).
Anyone have any idea what might have happened? I never had similar problems in any previos MODs installation...

Ernesto,

I can't think of anyway that the 68 carset install would affect your steering wheel setup.  I suspect your problem is unrelated to the install and just a coincidence.  I run Windows 10 and the controller set up can be a bit flakey with GPL.

When GEM+ patches and creates the gplc exes, it does not touch the original "gpl.exe".  Not sure what you mean by " I accessed the MOD 68".  Did you get the "MOD 68" menu screens or the 68 cars or something else?  I suspect this might be a setup in GEM+ issue.

I got everything about MOD 68: screens, cars, etc.
Well, as I could see I was the only one having that problem, probably it's something related to my installation.
In a few days I will be on vacation and I will try to install once more. Hopefully everything will go well. Anyway, thank you very much for your feedback!
