Just watched the movie Ford v Ferrari (LeMan's 66)

Trailer:

https://youtu.be/zyYgDtY2AMY

What a fantastic watch. I don't know how historically correct it was, but I really enjoyed this film and its story. It's one of the best race movies that I've seen for a long time.

I'm going to be truthful here though. Don't throw apples at me because it's kind of embarrassing. Until watching this I'd never heard of Ken Miles 🤭🤭 But now I do and I can't believe I missed the knowing of him and his racing talents. It's probably because I've never been an avid fan of sports car racing or Lemans. Plus probably the fact that his racing career was mainly based in the United states. I'd heard of Carroll Shelby but not Ken 🤔

I thoroughly recommend to everyone (Motorsport fan or not) to watching this fantastic movie if you can. Really sad ending but again a superb race film that was well enjoyed.

TP: 🏁

Watched it at the beginning of January, the movie is good. From the Ford GT forum, the guys questioned some things about the historical accuracy. But overall kept true to actual events, albeit with some embellishments.

I enjoyed the movie too but was a bit dissapointed by the racing scenes themselves. Hollywood still thinks racing is about driving next to each other on a long straight and magically finding extra speed out of nowhere.

We all know you just shift up in your infinity speed gearbox and press the loud pedal

Is it me and am I wrong in my assumption, in noticing a lot of severe extreme gearing down (especially on straights) to power past or away from other competitors. Wouldn't this break the gearbox and blow the engine 🤔

Ah and I made an earlier comment in that thread on Matt Damon. I take it back, he played a decent part 🤭😂

hahaha
the same thing i think
in "Rush" i also hoped that other options would have been found .... nothing,
then this great movie was announced...and?...still disapointed....it will probably take more time in Holywood.

Movie makers have been making car racing movies since the silent film era yet only a few have come close to depicting what real world racing is like.

There are many reasons for this, but it could be that it's an impossible task to begin with.  Certainly, film makers are more concerned about entertainment value and making money than they are about realism.  Who can blame them?

I'm just thankful that we've got Grand Prix and LeMans to watch.  :)

Grand Prix as got to be my all-time favourite. Wish they made movies like that today 😁

it was fine to me, I just ignored all the fictional "extra power by sifting gears" and enjoyed those beautiful 60s race cars
