An all-time favorite to listen to while driving Grand Prix Legends:
Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, and Paco De Lucia, "Friday Night in San Francisco."
Sorry, haven't checked YouTube, but this is a great album.

Otherwise, Jimi Hendrix "Kiss the Sky."

Oh boy, you toooo ?
It took me years to clear the mist outa my brain from all the purple- haze , the california -sunshines , heidelberger -ripples etc etc and indeed, most of those times
we were all wondering if : "we were alive or dead "

purple haze? let me guess, driving the '69 matra? :D

i can't listen to music while driving gpl. counterproductive sort of. depending on what it is i get mostly pushed on, and go even more mental than usual.

jimmy hendrix is a good choice though, purple haze, and a few other crosstown (?). but for the most part i listen to electronics, armin van buuren's "a state of trance", while editing these days. i used to listen to black sabbath when painting about a decade ago, some of their more melodic disks like "tyr" and "headless cross". good stuff.

I only listen to the Pet Shop Boys.

Sometimes Kraftwerk, Robbie Williams, but mostly Pet Shop Boys.

*in case if someone is wondering, yes I'm hetero :)

Jajajaja. Your a brave man admitting that. Back in my day anyone owning up to that would definately be on the wrong end of a good shoeing.

My musical tastes are:
King Crimson, 1973-74, 1982-84, 1995-96, 2000-03 (Live)
King Crimson, The ProjeKct's, P1, P3 and P4 (Live)
Weather Report, I Sing the Body Electric and Live in Tokyo 1972 (Live).

... and for painting the house. Stevie Wonder's, Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants. NO LAUGHING!

My tastes are varied and I go for most types of music - remember I said music and NOT rap.

Right now what has caught my attention is a most beautiful Fado:

I just keep on humming it......

Check out her other stuff too.

completely with you on this one , mate.
do not even drive my ornary streetcar with music, that is too distracting for me. As for GPL, I need the music that the engines makes to help me establish when to shift gears so cannot have other music going at the same time. The music I used to make and listen to when i was younger was at that time going under the name of "Contemporary free jazz" which most people simply used to classify as : "Friggin loud noise".
Whatever it was, it needed a kind of concentrated listening and/or undivided attention , or something like that :P
Honestly, I do not know how people today can function in everyday life situations. Every kid, and lots of adults too, seem to wear earphones and listen to music.
I can also see them txt -ing while driving cars, motorscooters, cycles, skateboards, you name it..................beyond me.
My conclusion: "I am over the hill"

Great idea Bernd, loved seeing Rory Gallagher, I really enjoy these kind of posts and so much great music already posted, Ten Years After, Dave Brubeck, Focus! anyone remember Blood Sweat and Tears with 'Spinning Wheel', they really had the names back then :clap2:  Well one of the first thoughts that came to my mind was also Canned Heat with 'A change is gonna come' but Rachet beat me to it. It always fun to discover talented musicians you've never heard before too, so thanks to everyone posting already, Teresa Andersson, what a talented lady! I really love music all types, except perhaps the 'rap' stuff as Keith says, excluding maybe coolio and 'Gangsters paradise'!

Anyway here's a few you may enjoy, speaking of tight musicians building up a performance as per Bernd's first post I couldn't help but think of Booker T & the M.G.'s and time is tight (unfortunately poor quality but still great to see them enjoying themselves)...
My link

and then how about this for some talented people...
My link

For something a little more chilled and soulful following Bernd's format...
My link

Something unusual and perhaps not to everyones tastes but amazingly talented and hauntingly beautiful nonetheless (Bulgarian I believe)...
My link

Ok and then onto a few of my favs...

...
My link & My link

...
My link & My link

My parents had this on record when I was a kid loved it but never knew what she looked like until youtube! ...
My link at the time I thought she was singing 'I want a new radio!' lol.

Ok, better finish could be here forever...another great session from Rory and the band...
My link
Hope you enjoy

I went to see Robin Trower with my dad last month!

My personal faves are Muse - especially when they do this kind of thing:

And anything by The Beatles.

I can't listen to anything while playing GPL - it takes ALL my concentration!!

But a real classic from 1967 is this one

While driving GPL I like to listen Neil Young, Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler.

Mark Knopfler is racer too. Here is interview with him where he talk about his racing cars and bikes:

part 2 -
part 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4WuXfpBv2U
I think I saw one of Mark's first races, at Mallory Park driving a Lotus 23? Saw Dire Straits in Birmingham (1985).

I originally found these guys because I liked the theme song from the "Damages" TV series, but they do some other good stuff too, especially "Happiness Every Day".

The VLA

And an amateur friend of mine named Rosie. She's composed quite a variety of songs, but the one that really stands out for me is "I came to terms with nothing". Scroll down the player list if you want to find it.

Rosie

And while I'm at it, I might as well include a few other bands/people who I've been lucky enough to hear playing live in my town of Aylesbury. Most of them are local:

Claire Batchelor
Chrystina Tomlin
God of Small Things
Pause
Pete Lumley
Slashed Seat Affair
Thinking For Tuesday

Hope you find something to enjoy.
