So the new Dakar game is out on PC and console. Thinking of buying it.I am.

As anybody took the plunge yet and purchased it. Any input and early thoughts of the game, would be good and help me decide whether to raid my piggy bank 😁

Some positive and negative reviews so far. What do people here think 🤔

Liking and intrigued with the info so far. Like on the vast landscape and square miles, in the game, where you can literally get lost for days (not that you want to) and you have to get from A-B with an intriquette real life navigation system. You can also stop, get out of your vehicle and discover the sand dunes, dig yourself out or flag another competitor down for help. If you don't help them, then later, when you get stuck or breakdown, they won't help you, Wow crazy 😂

58% positive reviews at Dakar, for €49,99 ?
I'm not into rally either, so I'll think I'll pass.

I think about buying it. :)
I am waiting for ages for a good Dakar game/ simulation.

But I don`t have enough disc space anymore. :(
I will have to check what I can uninstall to get space on my GAMES partition.

I am a bit skeptical about the wheel support. I hope the problems that are mentioned on steam forums and other forums have been fixed with the latest patches or will get fixed soon.

Edit: On the official game website my Thrustmaster T500 RS is on the supported list for the PC (and PS4) :)

I have made up some free space, bought and installed Dakar 18 (it needs around 38 GB disc space).

But I decided to use the refund option at steam. It`s the first time that I used this option.
You can do a refund within two weeks and when you didn`t play the game longer than two hours.

But that does not mean that the game is bad. It is just not my cup of tea.
Looking for waypoints/ checkpoints in the vast desert is not so fascinating for me than driving a rally stage like with Dirt Rally.

Dakar 18 recognized my Thrustmaster T500 RS wheel without any problems and I was able to adjuste Force Feedback.
But the wheel options are very limited. You can not switch between another controller in the options of Dakar. And you don`t have any other setting than the overall force feedback settings. You can not ajdust different types of forces that have an effect on the wheels of your cars and the general behaviour of your car like you can do with Dirt Rally or with Dirt 4.
Overall the car felt more arcadeish to me than like a simulation.
The game itself may be a good simulation of the Dakar but not of the pyhsics of a Rally car, nore when you drive over rocks, sand, through water, and on other undergrounds. It felt all the same to me.

But as the game has nice features and as it is the best simulation of the Dakar that you can get today, I might give it another try when it is on a low price one day.
