Hello all.

Is anyone around here playing Spintires?
I have recently bought it on steam when it was on sales.

It is really a great offroad simulation and very relaxing to play. :)

I have seen a playthrough of the game and was quite interested in it. I tried it shortly myself but I could not get a solid amount of FPS, even with low settings :(

Well, the link you posted is a modification of the game, Off-Road Adventure in Multiplayer.
There are so many kind of mods (vehicles and maps) released that you can just play Spintires minimum for the next 10 years. :D

If you want to see the "real" Spintires ( transporting things from A to B ) have a look at

Oh, no solid FPS. What system do you have?

Thanks Stefan for the link to the game.

Looks very interesting Indeed.

Last few years I have been going crazy about the various real life simulator games like, Euro Trucker, Airport Simulator, Construction Sim, Ship Sim, Street cleaning Sim, Car&Truck Mechanic Sim and so on and so on.

Sorry twinpotter, but UIG's "Airport Simulator" is the biggest pile of steaming :censored:  I have ever installed on a PC. You don't get to control any aircraft directly, whether for landing or takeoff. You don't get to decide how to expand the airport as the description claims. The only thing you get to do is drive vehicles to and from the aircraft. Baggage vehicles, passenger buses, cleaning vehicles, catering vehicles, servicing vehicles, refuelling vehicles, cargo vehicles etc etc etc. The vehicles are very slow, they are very awkward to control, and each drive takes several boring minutes to complete. The only slight variation is where you're asked to drive a towing tug to manoeuvre a plane to its taxiing position, and for me that task was completely bugged, as I couldn't get it to end. It's supposed to credit you when you position the plane in the correct location, facing the right way. But despite following the instructions, the game would never tell me that I had successfully positioned the plane. After trying to "play" this simulator for about three hours, I uninstalled the local files and I will never touch it again.

No problomo Saiph
I thought it was quite quirky in a funny sort of way
Must be my twisted gaming head. Suppose everybody is different. Mind you I got the game for £1 uk pound at a charity shop.Probably all it's worth. :hysterical:

Had trouble with the taxiing bit and really haven't done more than an hours game play.
Some mixed reviews on the game, with some critics even giving it praise ?

Having said that, some of the Simulator games I have come across are a bit hit and miss. Some are interesting, while others just don't cut it.

Strange I suppose how reviews and the human mind thinks

C'mon Saiph, it's an Airport Simulator, not Airplane Simulator, or any of Airport Tycoon franchise equivalent. Never seen it, but after reading the title and interpreting it literally, I would expect it to be based strictly on handling activities, which, judging from Your description, it is (though if it doesn't do this part very well, then one quid might be the only acceptable price tag indeed :D).

He he, I didn't mean to imply anything about your taste, twinpotter. I suppose after playing some of the more intense games available these days, it might seem a bit more relaxing, if that's what you need to chill out. But personally I just found it too repetitive and buggy. And Art-J, You've "never seen it"? I can't see how you can form any valid opinion or have any valid assumptions about a game just from its title. On the UK Steam site, it's rated as "Overwhelmingly negative" with only 13% of 755 reviews being positive. :yikesss: :muttley:

The only thing I don't like in this game is automatic camera repositioning and zoom

Ah cool, another G_P_L driver who likes Spintires.

Yes, the winch is also my best friend. :D

Are you using the mod
Spintires Plus v8 hf1 (latest version)
http://www.oovee.co....spintires-plus/

Besides MANY great features you can now also have almost unlimited camera zoom.
Each feature can be individually (de)activated in SpintiresPlus_config.xml (that you can open with the Windows text editor).

Like Stefan wrote those is MODS for fun, I don't like those mods because for me they take off the realism, there is bus, long travel, coupe car for example, for me it's absurd
but this is just personal opinion :)

Strange that your machine it's not able to work fine with FPS
The PC with my Spinteres is:
Core Duo E8400 3.00Ghz
4 GB RAM
Video card GTX 550 ti

and i play with all maximun settings and FPS is 40/45 medium, never under 35/38

Great that I could help you, Lalethor.

Atm I have activated NoDamage and UnlimitedFuel as I want to get the map finished. :)

Btw I like the feature that you can download new vehicles via the steam workshop.
New maps don`t seem to be possible yet via steam. You have to get new maps from modding websites.

Your system should be able to run Spintires in full glory.
Strange that you have FPS problems.
