I am wondering if I even have the  default setups in the mod because my car shifts really quickly into fifth ,well before the end of the straights.
Also the cars are doing way slower lap times.

Are you sure you've got the "Grand Prix" chassis selected and not the "Basic/Advanced Trainer" one?

Yes.
I chose the corresponding carset that matches Monza.
Lotus is redlining way before the end of the straight.
Cars doing 1.40s to 1.50s times.

I use my existing 67 profile for these car sets.
The set up extensions, where do I install those?

I use separate player profile for this mod (as I do for all mods, actually) exactly to avoid any setup-related mishaps. Can't comment on the setup extension fix then, 'cause I haven't used it.

I'd hazard a guess You stumbled upon something not installed correctly. Just checked the Lotus (carset "1967 13-ITA+14-OGC....") and with "default" setup You shouldn't be redlining anywhere - getting only up to ~8500 RPM on the back straight, and ~8800 on the front straight.

Yes,that's the carset I used.
How do I fix the problem?
P.S. deleted everything to do with this mod and started again.
Same problem.
Lotus is redlining way before the first turn.
I tried another car and the needle went halfway.
Leaving this mod for now, something just isn't right with the default setups.

My default 67 carset and other mods work fine.

OK now my default 67 cars are bouncing around on the track.
This Historic mod has destroyed my install. :(
Deleting the lot.
:-((
Going to reinstall GPL but only the default carset.
The best carset anyway the original.

Didn't someone make a new set of default setups with new suffix extensions???

Yeah, it's at the very bottom of Post #1 (below the group of images) in the 1967 F1 Historical Mod v2 Topic.

Fixed it!!!
Deleted my old install and found that there is a better newer install.
Tricky getting all the tracks to work but I got there.
No more slow Monza cars now!

FWIW, I think the patching doesn't always work completely, particularly with a new install.  I recently had a similar problem after the ordeal of reinstalling everything;  '65 car at Spa with default setup redlined well before Masta, and understeered horribly, tweaked the setup and it ran well, installed another mod, tested it and exited, returned later, switched back to the '65 mod and it now got nowhere near the redline and oversteered, changed back to default setup and all was well.  Also a good idea when changing mods to quickly scan all fields in GEM to make sure all are properly selected (it's fairly rare but I occasionally must change one manually).
