Who needs even 1960s technology to go motor racing? Why not a wooden Chassis; solid rear axle; 8 sprockets and some lengths of chain and an hundred and eight year old air cooled aero engine ?

Watch this, open the link and select the picture of the taper-tailed racing car and prepare to be on the edge of your seat.

Thanks Robert - but it is just about as far behind my era as 1967 is behind yours !
Good race though wasn't it ?

Err, does that mean these cars are from an era before you were born? Thought you were quite old, no disrespect :D I was born after 1967 :P

Great racing, love these square cars with narrow tires, and a big steering wheel, and the drivers taking that hunch forward... :)

Thanks Paddy for the link.

Just shows you, how the hell did they drive these back in the day. Nimble and quick carts to say the least. Imagine a big accident like the Alonso one this season in Australia.Makes you think how much bravery each driver had in those days,if a potential crash was on the horizon.I suppose they did, after all, have the fighter pilot attitude.Which obviously came from the character that people picked up from the two world wars.

Reminds me of days past, when me and some old friends used to build those old go-carts.Sheets of wood from a disused kitchen, attached pram wheels and a bit of string for the steering.Careering down a steep slope, with no breaks, ending up at the bottom with cuts/bruises and the worse case of road rash you have ever seen.
Or the time I worked at a Car sales/auctions and had to drive different cars through the sales viewing lot.One night I was given a Mini-Cooper.Man with my eyes beaming, I refused to give it up and  get out.Driving it round and around the parking lot for ages until forced to get out. WAFFLE WAFFLE Lol :hysterical:

Watched so far the GT40s, the F3 and the ante-war cars races :) :) thanks Paddy. I've read the reports of said races but watching them is quite another story :)

Also, did you guys noticed how the GT40s brake discs were glowing? Amazing!
