I wish.

So the "lite" version, or the low res textures, wouldn't alleviate these pauses?  This is not at the start of a race, it can be anytime, even during testing.

jgf, use the method that I described in Post #476 above.  If you have the requirements, then it will work well after one lap.

As I said, I do not have 64bit OS, I do not have 8gig RAM.

jgf, I do not see where you state "I do not have 64bit OS, I do not have 8gig RAM." ... except in your last post.

jgf, please try patching your G.P.L. executable file(s), such as gplc67.exe, gplc55.exe, etc, with the 4GB Patch, if you have a 64-bit OS with at least 4GB of system memory.

http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

With this enabled, when you drive a lap of spa67 you will notice a slight stutter at approximately 3 or 4 spots around your first lap.  From then on the stutter will be so very small that I trust you will not (or just barely) notice them.

The problem is the start of the race. I have a new gaming system that gets 600 fps in iRacing with max graphic settings if I don't set a fps limit. I run 36fps in GPL because of the AI. Yet I get 32fps at Spa67 at the start from the back of the field. It stutters for the whole of the race start. I'm not using the 4GB patch, but i've got 32GB of memory.

This should be fixed.

Pete - I had this issue as well. I can play the latest games on Ultra. My graphics card can do 4k on a 27" monitor with everything turned up to max. And still I was getting 24fps at the back of the grid at Spa. You know what cured it? Changing my GEM+ Rasterizer setting from "Run ZBuffer in separate thread" to "Use ZBuffer". Now, 36fps everywhere. It's wonderful.

"UseZBuffer' must be the default setting, because I never touched it and that's the setting I have. I'm fine though. Running the 4G patch fixed my problem.

Thanks

Amazing work this track. Big congrats to the team.

Maybe this has already been posted before, but honest, I did not have the stomach to weed through 487 posts.

For those who have issues with the hires textures, try the 4G-patch. http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

I tried it and the hires textures worked perfect after, while they didn't before. If you're using one of the mods, make sure to also patch the mod gpl-files, such as gplc65.exe e.g.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Impressive Robert. Is that the Papy physics or Historical V2? I'm guessing Papy.

I tend to agree a bit and have gone back to Papy physics. One thing the V2 physics is good for is RF braking. It has enough added grip that it allows a little looser setup which is better overall. Of course, the early season cars are heavier with less HP, so no matter how hard we try the cars are slower. It's hard to adjust to that after all these years of going faster.

Thanks Robert.
Congratulations on WR!

Nice driving.
Now see where I might fix some apexes and no longer feel so bad letting off in a few places.

Is the video your actual driver view?
Wondering if by adjusting you might be even faster?

:D

A pure lap of magic, Robert.  Congratulations.  :)

My jaw really did drop as you took the Masta kink. ... but, the most cringe-worthy reaction I had was your entry to Holowell.  YIKES!!

@ Pete: to me Historical has way too much grip...

@ John: thanks, I drive with triple screens at 106degrees FOV and 4320x900 res and adjusted driving position without letterbox....for convenience and Youtube  captured in single screen mode 1920x1080 at 80degrees FOV (and driving position optimized for triple screen mode). I have driver arms off for more immersion, however you can argue both ways...

@ Greg: thanks, and thanks for all your work supporting the GPL community :)

Yes, more grip for V2, but does Papy physics have enough grip to be more realistic?

I don't know.

It's all very low budget, currently need another 21" monitor to replace both sidemonitors. Or 2 24" monitors. Only then I will make an alu frame to use Remco Hitman's old cockpit. It's hard to make a pic that sees it from my eyeview. The bezels of my main 24" are quite thin happily :)

I've setup the 19" side monitors so the wheels and the rest isn't too distorted...at about 30 degrees even when GPL doesn't support angling...it's still way more immersive than single screen :P So, it's still far from perfect ATM. Also still using MSFF wheel and pedals...
