1971 Can-Am Mod Ai Update

Hi all,
Some time ago when Can-Am ’71 mod was in development there was problem with AI cars top speed. As a way to solve this problem I suggested to make set of mod specified lp files for championship tracks. Test files were made for some of the tracks, I have positive feedbacks. But idea was omitted. Since then I completed whole work on all existing Can-Am tracks (no Mid Ohio). So finally last year I review all files and want to share them with you.

To install simply extract files into your GPL main folder and overwrite all files.

I also modified driver.ini’s. I don’t like predictable race results of original mod files because of mechanical failure settings. So I gave same mechanical failure settings across one car model through whole season. I know Greg will disagree with me on such modifications. But I give my files as an option to anyone.

Notes
  • I suggest you to use my AI updates for St. Jovite, Edmonton, Laguna Seca ’67 with this Can-Am’71 files. It can be found here http://srmz.net/inde...opic=10490&st=0

  • There is new version of gp71CA.ini in archive. After installation please adjust NTP settings to your taste.

  • If you don’t use my driver.ini’s then be prepared to adjust AI speed in trackCA ini’s. Because I didn’t test track files with default driver ini’s.

  • I’ve included files for new Road America track that is in development by Ginetto and Remy. I hope they will find time to finish this beautiful track ;)
EDIT 2017.02.08: New Road America track will have little different track folder name. So I've made correction to the pack.

Pavel, To be clear I assume there is no need to install the roadamer files included in this update for the just released track, I assume the track has the same/later versions of the files.

It seems like my CA71 mod specefic lps were included with track install. So yes, you may not install my files.

Hi Pavel. I was wondering if there is something I can do about the AI at the new Road America track ? I don't use the Historical add on and the Ai is painfully slow. I'm not the fastest guy on the track but I'm some 15 seconds faster than the fastest AI car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can try to increase dlong_speed_adj_coeff in  tra71CA.ini. If it will not help then try to move race.lCA, pass.lCA and pass2.lCA to any backup folder.

That did the trick !! I'm so happy to have a great competitive race now ! Removing the pass and race.ica files you suggested fixed the problem. Again,thank you very much. :)

You can quickly adjust AI speed in GEM+ :)

Some settings:

AI speed 0: AI adjusts to your speed (usually very slow in the beginning, they speed up after a couple of full sessions)
AI speed 1: standard speed
AI speed 0.9: very fast (3 or 4 seconds faster than standard speed)
AI speed 1.1: very slow (3 or 4 seconds slower than standard speed)

Thanks Tommie but I only needed to adjust the AI for the one track,(Road America) . The other tracks the AI was fine. :thumbup:

Mid Ohio we have is in beta stage and it's wrong. Chris 'silence' worked on better version but have left.

Yes it is. In the eagle folder of cars/canm71 there are few subfolders to change the player's car. E.g.: T222 player on Kazato#35. Copy the two files which are there and paste them into the eagle folder. :wave:

Pavel there seems to be some issues at Mosport. The AI makes some very dangerous brake checks before T3, after T7 and before T10.
