Who are the group "C3dfx" I have stumbled across their Facebook Page and it is filled with lot of 3d renders of various Grand Prix cars never seen before in GPL
There are lot of 1971 cars and a lot of 1978 cars. They even have 1986 Williams!!!

They claim all those cars are for GPL

I've just been checking out their FB Page and must say it blew my mind.
I never thought GPL would go beyond the early 1970s, but seeing that they even go towards the 1980s, it's crazy.

I think there might be an idea to get into co-operation in the development of new mods with these guys, one way or another. These models looks fantastic.
I'm just really wondering how much we are capable of applying the physics to these cars, especially considering downforce, ground effect, etc.
Personally I don't have many objections against having a e.g. 1978 F1 mod.

I'd say, welcome to the community, guys :D

It's Shaun and I  :D and in the early days of model creation aided and guided by Rory Gibson, Luna, and the mighty MECH.
And it's quite clear that you have to be a pro like Shaun, or F1Challenges' Luigi from to build new cars from the ground up.
I found out the hard way that 3dsMax is not a toy. lol

His modeling effort is 13 years old and has delivered cars for CANAM 66. 71, the 55mod, and two cars for the SportsCar mod (the two 2.0 liter cars).  :hat-tip:

The bigger issue is the way forward. These mods are monsters and require numerous dedicated people - you know who they are -  to get the quality we all enjoy. Think editing to start with.,. The models are key of course and yes they all work in GPL  but it is a mighty effort by a few to turn them into finished products. We've established something we call Historic Racing Legends (HRL) that has an eye on the future. I could post pictures but I always thought that was cruel. Some planning is taking place but it will not be overnight. Needless to say, other mods, constant physics development, new tracks or track updates, historical carsets and ai have kept my interest at 10/10ths, most of the time. Since 1961 I've been slot car racing, real racing or sim racing; why stop now ?   Bob

Quite well. It's the ai that'll again be the hard nut.

Beautiful cars

I thought that I saw a 1938 Delahaye 145 GP (which  beat the Mercedes in the first GP of 1938). When I looked at the site and I tried to find again, it was not there.  Perhaps someone took it off since there should be a Cork (Irish) circuit on which to race it ?  Dreyfus won repeating their Pau result.
Who fancies building a 6.1 mile circuit, with a 2.7 mile straight ? :wubit:

YES - it's there, thank you, I don't know how I missed it :hithead: .Think, if my father had been a motor enthusiast I could have been there (just about)

Thank you. It's keeping them that way when converted to GPL that has been the high hurdle. These have to be low polygon count cars or else ol' GPL crashes.
