Just getting to know the 69 cars. The reduction in drag when running behind another car is very noticeable but is it affected by the type of wing selected? - I suspect not as it is my understanding these are graphical only. Also, I was wondering do these cars also exhibit reduced downforce and therefor grip when following closely behind another car? I am not a good/consistent enough driver to feel this for myself :( (so you could say why worry about it!).

Each car has only one physic!
You can choose the "no wing graphics" and set the wings to max effect...

Afaik there is no loss of downforce when you get in the tow of another car.

Thanks Axel. As I expected but nice to have my thoughts confirmed.

To my knowledge, GPL only uses a rather simple slipstream model. There is no dirty air, but when you follow a car closely, the huge slipstream will give you a speed boost that can lead to understeer as the load on the tyre increases when cornerning with more speed than you would without a tow.

+ there is a crazy situation you can get when you are close:

the force of the slipstream increases the nearer you get - in some mods it becomes stronger than your brake!

- in 55s with that brake fade you have no chance to avoid rear ending

- I had that in 65s when my car made a sudden jump forward when I released the throttle

Try some laps at IMS. First do this alone. Next enter T1 or T3 right behind other car. To get the most out of this, use no wings with the 69x cars.
