While looking through Youtube I found this old racing film in full classsic form.
Apparently Quentin Tarantino states it as his favourite racing movie!

When it was made I was only 13 and so my father thought he should view it first before deciding if I should be allowed to see it. He came back and said "No way!" I believe he said there were some bedroom scenes unsuitable for my young eyes. Having viewed the first 12 minutes, I must say he did me a great favour. Not because he protected me from exposure to sin and depravity but because it is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. (Notice I didn't say just one of the worst worst racing movies!)

I plan to watch it to the end because there are some interesting racing scenes in short bursts. But I can only take a few minutes at a time. I think Quentin is a great film maker but we obviously don't agree on all matters.

I used to watch the old Hells Angel films of the sixties/seventies and it reminds me of that. What I used to call Taccy movies or B movies. Probably the type that were shown midweek in those days in the drive in movie parks?
I have to say though films from this period intrigue me cos of the times,ie fashion, music and all that went with the hip period.
I don't know where Tarantino is coming from but I have never liked his movies anyway!

Actually, I have now watched the whole movie and I no longer would say that it is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It is still terrible, but not quite in the worst category.

In fact the photography is excellent for the most part and the acting isn't nearly as bad as the script and story-line they had to work with. There are some excellent racing shots if you can just ignore the awful non-racing sequences.

Here is a link to an article about Tarantino's favourite racing movies:

http://f1socialdiary...-racing-movies/

I just hope he never makes a racing movie. (Although he probably will.) He'll do to racing films what Inglorious Basterds did to war movies.

Some pretty good Historical F2 footage and views of Brands Hatch & other circuits.

Thanks for posting TP. :)
